I have the new hole drilled and it's beautiful, but I found another problem LOL,, any one want to buy plane LOL, there is binding in the retract, the original wing did it too, I couldn't figure it out, but it's not the retract it's self, LOL I found that both right wings (original & replacement) have their bellcrank-mount mounted lower than the left wing LOL, this put's the short linkage on an angle, so I removed the bellcrank and added ply to the bellcrank mount to raise the bellcrank some LOL, it works smoother now,

I have found that using that centering tool, which has a drill bit on the end that makes a hole and follow up with a slightly larger bit to get a hole going works very well for end grain and hard wood. I gave up dimpling wood a long time ago as it doesn't go deep enough to get a bite with the flutes right away, and that is what causes that wander.

Pretty sure he did drill a pilot hole but, whatever, he finally did it!

no 115 yet, but there is a Webra 91 for $65 on RC Groups if you want it, I would like to buy it but I really shouldn't,,
yes the wing dilemma is over,,, for now LOL, the retract works well with little effort of moving the linkage,
tomorrow the 2 wing half's will be glued together,, LOL well I should say that is my hopes LOL

Gary i use a 12oz tank to fly the fa82 and deccy.If it's well tune in the flying sense,as opposed to on the bench i'll get 15mins of full on aerobatics and around 20 if doing slow low level figure eights with a touch and go between.I'll brag here and say quite a bit of grass gets cut,the odd small bush too.

My Saito engine
This is my Saito 1.50S that ai plan to run wit a spark ignition. I am wondering if my mix of alcohol & Klotz oil would give it good enough power to fly a light airplane? Any input would be very helpful. Best Regards, John

Never enough kits. They are revenge to the widow when she has to figure out how to best dispose of them in the estate renderings.

I just got back from six days in way northern W.Va. where my daughter lives about 1,500' from the Pa. line. I was attending the funeral of my Dad's next to last sister. Her husband, (my Uncle Joe) is the tall guy in this picture. He piloted 27 missions over Germany, on the 27th they were asked to return to base because the war was over.

so the Worlds Models P-40 wing was glued today, the retract system works very smoothly,, the only problem with this type of system is that if something goes wrong with it you can not get the long linkage out of it to fix or to replace it.. but my goat is up for it now and tomorrow I will mount the throttle servo and tail servos and if all goes well I will mount the tail feathers too..
BTW, the covering on this Worlds Models P-40 is pained, and the cowl is beautiful, the mouth is painted too, I will try to get a photo of it tomorrow for you guys

Jim you send that p40 over right away for some nose art.This is a close in shot to censor the lady.
Nice looking indian john,i paint them at work and spray the logo's as well.
Gary put your time on this planet to good use now and booby trap all the kits.

The Indians I worked on looked a lot more like this: "Indian Wally" Komondy lives about 3 miles from here and I often spent more time working in his shop than at my "day job" back in the 1970s. His house was only 1 mile from our flying field too. The new Indians are very nice machines indeed.

The fuel load would be the same for most folks.
Saito 115
Engine weight==20.6 oz
Muffler weight===2.89
Total weight====23.49
Saito 125a
Engine weight==21.87
Muffler weight===2.82
Total weight====24.69 oz===1.2 oz difference, not much to work with there. I am going to weigh my 125's muffler to see how close the specs are to the truth. I am not going to weight the bare engine, that would require removing the CHI and re-timing it.
Uncle Joe was a great guy to be around, but no one knew about him being a pilot until after he died and the family found pictures, he did not talk about it.

There is a brief mention of Wally Komondy regarding an 80 inch engine from his shop. Wally is 90 now and still very active working on his beloved Indians.

Gary, I will get some pics tomorrow when the wife comes home, "if I remember", I don't have a cell phone (thank god) and I just gave my camera away Saturday to my daughter in-law,,, when I bought that D7 it had Foghorn Leghorn for a pilot, kind of ironic being that he is as American as apple pie and the D7 is a German plane, but I will put him in the P-40, he fits good,, I bought that D7 for $50, flying, complete with engine, TX, RX and servos, anyone want to buy a TT 40GP cheap ??
if you didn't know I have 2 P-40's, the Worlds Models (a 46 size/ 57" span), and the VQ (a 60 size/ 62.8" span), I will try to get photos of both,
that Indian has some real character there, and a flat head to boot, I have always had a "thing" for old flat heads, I had a Willys jeep (47 2A), my god, almost 40 years ago
