Its weeks like this I'm glad I don't live with my son in Chicago!

Not too bad here. 40 today and 60 by Monday. Unfortunately at this time of year warming trends typically bring rain. I actually got to fly last Sunday though. High temp was 55°f , partly cloudly and winds less than 15mph. The ol' scratch built Kwikfli Mk3 flew great as usual.

Meanwhile down here in west aussie it's been another 100+ day of brilliant sunshine.Saw a doco on siberia where it gets to more/less than -80c in winter.Lot of people up that way,do you think any of them might be saito owners?

Rowdog that 60t is a pretty engine,like it lots.I'd like one to put in an open cowled silver coloured 30's aeroplane.

ps jim i was pulling your leg over the vid but i have an idea about how you could clean that shed up.Turn the lights off with a bunch of your drunk flying buddies locked inside and busting to get out.

Speaking of cutting cowls, I've used this system with great success. It's the most accurate and easy way I've seen.

The 60T is a beautiful engine. Some guys have all the luck! I hope you it keeps the Cub for decades!

Jesse, they were saying on the news las night that icebreakers are the only ships that can sail the Great Lakes safely right now. I'm still really glad I'm not with my son in Chicago!

Going to be 80* warmer tomorrow than it was yesterday. Downside the forecast calls for rain. Going to be on F'd up day if that happens. rain on hard frozen snow and ground will be nasty.

Your welcome, man did I struggle with cowl cuts before seeing that vid. It was all trial and error, mostly error and my cutouts ending up larger than necessary by the time I got them centered. Now it's easy-peasy and they come out dead nuts every time.

I picked up the Spark-O-Matic kit today, the ride would have been a 266 mile trip, but the seller's daughter comes in to NH to see her BF so she brought the kit for me, so the trip was only 120 miles. but my wife took the long road so she could see her grandfather's old house,,

anyhoo, it will be a couple weeks before I can start on it, got to get a building board for it and order glue and stuff, but I will ged-r-done

now I got the dreaded job of picking colors and schemes for the covering, as I said, I will bash it into an open cockpit, I am picky and want it nice, but not fancy or sexy, only 2 or 3 colors, something old school racer, but not racy, maybe just old school sporty.

Nice plane Jim. Light wing loading on that one. I must say, I'm a bit envious. Excellent candidate for a Saito 82.

thanks for the nice reply, with that wing loading I could put my K&B 100 on it, it all makes me wonder how fast that wing is, too slow a wing the 100 would be useless on it, but it would hover

I guess it would too much to bash it into a Mooney M-18/Mite and a 100 twin.

The airframe is too draggy to go super fast, the control surfaces are too small to hover without torque rolling, the fuse is too short to make a great pattern flyer....it's a true sport flyer by design eg 4star, funster, super sportster, tiger 2 etc. .

At 6-6-1/2 lbs AUW it would have unlimited vertical with 60 2s or 82 4s. Your K&B 100 is way too much engine for a Telesport which makes it just about right

The K&B 100 is a very long engine, I think the firewall would end up back near the wing leading edge.

Glowgeek, I will be putting my HP 61 RI in the TeleSport, the engine will set straight up, so I will be able to put a custom muffler on it to get a bit more Zap out of the engine, I will buy a straight header for the HP, and I have a very clean Mack's quiet Tuned Pipe, I will cut the intake tube off the Pipe, weld it up, mill a hole on the side of the Pipe and weld the Header to the side of the Pipe, it will be longer than a stock type muffler but not a true tuned pipe, so it should produce more power and look better than a stock type muffler

there is a guy on RCG but he is not replying to my PMs, he has a 64" span ARF P-40, I want it, it has not been hinged yet. I saw a photo of an open cockpit P-37 racing plane, I could bash that P-40 into a P-37 easily and recover it, and at that I could add a few drops of glue for good luck, the K&B 100 would be great for the one..

Dave, I just saw a Mooney M-18 kit the other day, I agree, it would be great for the 90T or 100T

yes Dave you are correct it is too long, but I really didn't have a thought to use it in this plane, I bought this plane for my HP, I really want to fly that engine badly. the HP is long too, but I feel it will be OK

Jim, is your HP 61 the original rear intake model or the newer front intake? I saw an original rear intake HP 61 for sale at fly in last year. Wow, that baby was really long!!

Glowgeek,, wow, I just measured it for you, from the back plate to the front of the Prop Hub it is 1/8th an inch shorter than my OS 61FX, but the rear Carb sticks out 1&3/16 from the back plate,

the HP is 1&3/4 inch from the front of the Cylinder to the front of the Prop Hub,,

the OS 61FX is 1&9/16 inch from the front of the Cylinder to the front of the Prop Hub,,

you should see the inside of the Liner, it is super smooth and shines like a mirror, it's an ABC
