no I don’t fear the YS I just don’t care for all the hype.
Remmber I have had a few. I just don’t like them.

I have owned enough of them and enjoyed them all, starting 1979.
Enough good experience to consider most of the sour grape negatives as "hype".

Anyhow, I have had good enough results with Enya, OS and YS that Idont exactly worship at the holy altar of only Saito all the time

I appreciate the YS engines well. Extremely well made .

I love the Saito’s and for me it’s just easier to stay with one type. I get tired of going out and have to reinvent the wheel every time I fly. Kinda like the old carb days every car started deferent that had a carburetor.

I have a Liberty Sport kit still in the factory sealed box. Was thinking about using one of my FA100T twins in it. That Gemini II should be very nice. I had a Sig Clipped Wing Cub on floats with the 120 II that weighed 15 pounds near the end of its soaked 20 year life that flew quite well. At least until the last few seconds!

Kindred spirits methinks. NiCd are my first choice for airborne as well. NiCd are more robust and predictable under the typical loads found in flight packs. That said Sanyo brand and Panasonic were among the best. The thing today is a lot of the bargain stuff is often old, stale stuff and of course there are knock offs too. Much of what I have bought lately does not cycle anywhere near the ratings. I go the pig in a poke route and risk buying bulk. I always cycle to verify capacity. BTW, those tab welders can be real helpful too. Picked one up a couple years ago and have used it for plenty other odd jobs as well.

I use NiMh in transmitters where they can work well under the steady loads transmitters impose.

Good choice. The NiCds are a lot less subject to damage during charging than NiMh and, the important difference with flight packs, NiCd also deliver better instantaneous current under peak servo loadings.

I have used 10 year old NiCd packs to power my portable flash when I did wedding photography.
The NiMh would never stand up to that use.

Nothing to forget so much, just a matter of learning what the battery strengths and shortcomings are.
Judging remaining capacity with LiFe is something that needs learning. I also use these but again, only in constant drain applications like the transmitters. Great batteries though.

6.6 volt batteries are not well liked by many of the older 4.8 volt airborne systems that I often like to use.
Even where they are tolerated, the current drain at 6.6 is proportionally higher than at 4.8 volt, with a few rarer exceptions.

Which takes us back to the original question of where to buy NiCds
