That very same car was at an interior trim shop in Clawson Michigan, late in 1967. Just north of Detroit. The shop owner was an expert at Ford interior restorations.
They figure one of the missing 1936 stainless was scrapped during the WW2 scrap drives.

On the way from Indiana, you may want to check this place out:
https://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org

I live about 20 minutes from Greenfield Village but I make the 5 hour trip to Gilmores at least once a year.

Next year I plan to be up in your neck of the woods, haven't found a camp ground yet within reasonable distance to the Henry Ford museum.

That is on purpose to keep the riffraff away like R/C pilots and builders. How would like having a bunch of them hanging around.

Well sure would be nice to have a few around here, no where to fly and no one to fly with.

What time of year?
I can check around. Port Huron is really a fairly short jump up I-94 from Dearborn. There are several campgrounds up that way, many on the water and Canada is just over the bridge. You may want to check out the Yankee Air Force at the old Willow Run Airport site of Henry's B-24 factory. There are several campgrounds west of Dearborn as well. I will investigate.
When you do get near here, a steak dinner is just a phone call away

Probably last week of July first of August, which seems to be the best time for traveling. I would have been touring the Rouge plant today had it not been for that A-hole *****ner forcing schools to start a week sooner. I had it all planned out, last week and this week do a circle tour, Kentucky Horse park, then Dayton Ohio, then this week Michigan for the Henry Ford, and Kalamazoo. I had already booked 3 days in Kentucky and was about to book the rest when we found out, then it was too late to change anything.

So instead I am spending my last 4 vacation days working around the house by myself. All I can say is thanks Chitcago.

Buddy, I certainly agree on that last part!

I will do some checking around. Should be able to find something that works very well.

Anyone remember saito's gold plated fa30? and if so who bought one...

Capt the finish on your blue metallic engine looks nearly satin. Did you use a so called direct gloss rattle can ie no clear top coat over the blue metallic ?

ps years ago a spraypainter friend was working in Dubai and was shown a 24 carat gold bmw m3 owned by a prince, money no object, well, my wallet would object. perhaps even get suicidal and take me with it

That little 30 appears to be nearly the same color as OS LA engines.

Any pics after they have been run hard for a few years?

I bet you guys would paint that old Stinky Steel Furd too!

So far, the Kmot Webra is the only one I would tolerate.

Gary
i am beginning to think you donít like painted engineís.
And the three jaw puller I got per Daveís recommendations is the best puller that I have ever had available to me so I think itís pretty awesome.

Yes I need to run both engineís to see how the paint holds up. The red is rated for 900 degrees so that should be ok. I donít use caster so that shouldnít be an issue. We shell see.
But right now they sure are pretty

If you got big enough cajones to paint a Saito pink and send it to me I'll build a pink airplane just to fly it in!

Nice paint jobs Crunchy! I agree with Pete, a clear over that metallic blue would make it pop. I like painted engines but in the case of air cooled engines I like it when the paint is sanded off the edges of the cooling fins, like that Webra. Not for functionality, just for appearance. Shoot some clear and sand the fins and you'll really have something there.

I agree the LAs would have looked better if OS had sanded the paint off the fins and the OS logo on the side.

Yeah sure, but the whatever paint OS used for the LA's chipped off really bad. I have a couple here that need repainting and they're low run time units. Crap paint? Maybe, or just poor prep work, I mean that's where it's at; prep work makes all the difference. Just ask Pete. Crunchy did really nice prep work on his units, no fish eyes or debris in the paint that I can see. I love a really nice clean raw aluminum finish but with older castings many times the surface finish is too corroded and warrants a nice painted finish. Kudos to Crunchy!

I get the impression you don't like specialized tools nor the reasons behind the design. Or perhaps it is just a personal thing
Ah but I do like painted engines, pretty picky about which ones. In most cases with air cooled, aluminum engines, paint is icky.
The 3 jaw universal puller is good, it can be used for other jobs as well. I have a few that are similar. Pullers of all types were part of my job over the years. Have quite a collection

I really LIKE well designed pullers of all types. Continual improvement is a good thing in my book.

Here you go!

Cap, I was thinking a pink engine would have to be on something that would show it off. I was thinking Monokote Circus Pink with Neon Pink trim sheet for accents!
