LSN 3 : 16, always set it. I set the LSN as lean as I can get it, since it's setting only matters at lower rpm where power pulses are farther apart, heat and pressure lower, fuel draw is higher and there is plenty of oil in the crankcase. As seen here the LSN is just about .125" below the throttle arm face on this 125-a.

Have you measured run time between glow and CDI on that 125?

No sir, I have never done that, I should though. Let me catch a day when it's below 95.

Will be interesting to see how much a difference it makes. If it can gain twice the run time then CDI pays for itself in fuel costs.

95 is not even HD fun weather. that 1203 cc furnace really puts out the heat on those days.

My take/ guess is that the CDI may save 10%, but that's a guess.

Let's see, fuel is running me about $28.00 a gallon. If I'm saving 10% on fuel economy the cost savings would be $2.80 for every gl I burned. A CH cdi conversion costs $135.00 so I'd have to burn 48 gl. of fuel to pay for the cdi. Hmmmm, trying to remember if I've even burned 48 gl of fuel in a 4 stroke. In 6 yrs, I don't think I have and certainly not in one engine.

I guess the point is that I wouldn't buy the cdi for cost savings, I'd buy it for performance.

Dave, does running nitro w/ cdi offer any advantages? Power? Cooling?

Thanks Lon, I just run the same fuel no matter the ignition source. Wildcat with 10% Nitro Methane, 18% full synthetic is all I run, even Fox engines love it.

Just wondering about the nitro and cdi. With glow engines higher nitro content in the fuel brings more power and better cooling to the game. If there's no benefit at all with cdi then fuel costs could be further reduced by running no nitro. CH ignitions says it's possible to run 0% nitro with cdi but they don't indicate if there is any downside.

The lowest nitro methane % I've run is 5%, Saitos and Enyas run fine on it, I don't think I ran it in the few OS I've owned. Strictly speaking four stroke here. The exhaust note is notably softer.

CDI sounds nice but I think I'll stay with glow. I like having the same fuel for everything. I will say back in the 70s a friend had an open rocker OS 60 4 cycle with a straight pipe that had been converted, It blew the coolest looking smoke rings at an idle. It also would shed its pushrods and cam followers on the slightest bumpy landing.

Aww c'mon now.
Let's add some chinezeum electronics to what ain't broke and works great as it is.
Jinping will be glad to send em over for our US dollars.
Probably even send over some more China bug in the packaging.
The communists are really nice like that.

I don't want my Saito to get the Kung Flu! Besides, if you order one today, you won't get it for at least 6 months or more.

Roughly 20 years ago I bought 4 gallons of 5% Wildcat with 18%-80/20 syn/castor blend, when it was gone I went 10% and full synthetic. I've never had a reason to look back and question it. (the change). Far awhile I had a few gallons of 10% Wildcat with 16% 80/20 syn/castor blend, at that time it was the recommendation for RCV engines. Saitos and Enyas ran perfect on it too. I never owned an OS four stroke until about 5 years ago. Now I'm all Saito from 30 to 182. Oh, I do have an OS 120 with pump I don't know what to with.

Sell it and buy another Saito, of course.

Failing that, it wouldn't bother me in the least if it just showed up on my porch one day.

I made a rear facing vent out of aluminum for Psycho Billy 82.
