Mike, I have not been able to work on it till today. my grand daughters come here one at a time so I put it off, but I worked on it today, I can only work on it for an half hour at a time because it's so hot & muggy here I have to get away sweating badly, this new weather has been going on here in Vermont for the last 4 years, it seems to get worse every year. but I got the cowl marked for cutting today and tomorrow I will cut it outside and fit it. I can't wait to start it, it's a 70sz Heli engine so it has the larger Heli carb, and I have a Heli regulator but I don't know if the regulator will fit in the cowl yet, ether way, regulator or not the Heli carb is a much better carb than a plane carb because the Heli carb will idle for 5 minutes and then accelerate without stumbling.
I have an OS 50 Hyper Heli engine in my Worlds Models P-40, iy runs fantastic! it has the same type carb as the 70 but smaller, it turns an APC 11-8 at 12,800 with a large GMS 47 muffler, this GMS muffler in about 1mm shorter than the OS 61fx muffler. the guys in the club say it's a 100MPH plane

Nice! Sounds like you found a winning combination. Treasure the time you get with the granddaughters, when they get older the have a lot less time,.

Hello,
I purchased a Keleo exhaust for my Saito 170R3 but browsing the internet this morning I heard a guy running a Morris' Mini Motors exhaust ring for a 200r3 and it sounded way better. Deeper around the rpm range. I know it is a slightly different motor but similar. Does anyone have a direct comparison video of Keleo Exhaust vs Morris' Mini Motors Exhaust with the same camera and location setup to get a good comparison?
Thanks

Searching more I found a Keleo 200r3 video and it sounds like the 170, but a different camera and environment. I think based on seeing pictures it is the chamber allowing the better exhaust note on the Morris exhaust ring.

Mike, if you didn't see the mistake, the AutoGyro's right wing is on backwards, if you look at the left wing it's easy to see the foil
oops, BTW, I didn't get to work on the ShoeString today, both granddaughters came today, I was the mean pirate, I never got my gold today, boy am I beat!

I have several, very nice scratch built planes to moe along. VERY NICE, the kind you likr.
Please give me a call! Cap'n Crunch and Hobbsy both have my phone number.

These are just a few. Several more.

The 115 arrived this am, it's good we decided to take a look, it spent a lot of time at very high rpm, the rear bearings is worn enough that you can see the crank move up and down when the crankpin is at 90 degrees to bore center. Both sides of the cam lobes have dents with the leading side being worse. It now ears new Boca Bearings with the front being double sealed the rear open. I had three new cams and new lifters. I think I'll do the rockers too if I have them. Gary had sent me a package of piston rings marked 120 but there were three 115 rings in it. I suspect the 115 shares it's bore with some other engine. It has some super compression. It turns oh so smooth.

Yep, the FA115 has the same 31.7mm bore size as the FA125/FG20 and the same 24mm stroke as the FA91S. The 115 is the 3rd most over square Saito single, the 82 takes top prize for bragging rights in that category followed by the 62.

The engine has a B on the right lug, mine has a A, this one's later. The valves don't leak so I'm going to touch them It should be good for a long time. I am going to clean the carbon out of the muffler outlet ports also. I took a picture of the cam dents but it didn't take for some reason. You're very welcome Mike. I have an extra long appointment at Radiology today, the beginning of my "come down" as they call it. They're going to get more specific as to where they aim the beam.

Dave, replacing rocker arms? Hmm, don't guess I've ever seen one wore enough to worry about. Seems there is always plenty of threading available for lash adjustment and I've not yet seen the rocker hole or pin wore enough for excessove slop (wiggle) to occur there. Maybe I have never seen a "super" high time engine?

I have to agree with you! When Dave offered to replace the bearings I knew I would get an engine as close to new as it would ever be. Now I wish I had sent him a little more "beer" money with the return postage for incidentals. There a number of you guys in this thread I wouldn't have a second thought about having you work on a Saito for me and you are one of them. I still think of this thread as Saito University.
