Hi All, I think I have a problem.. I have only recently become involved in the RC hobby and particularly SAITO engines.
I have loaded up a small credit card in the last couple of months and tell myself it's OK because I don't have a lot of years left! (62yrs old)
Here is the SAITO list:
FA-40 new
FA-50 used
FA-65 used
FA-120S new
FA-150 used
FA-180GK New
FA-150 used
and today, a FA-100Twin landed on the porch!
I told the wife it's dementia, but I think my butter is starting to slip off my biscuit for real!
Is there hope??
Keith

LOL LOL
Don't have a clue nor do I give a rat's last breath who sold it.
This one was not made in China.
LOL LOL
Good Luck

Not so,
This is a G model Super Tigre and it is clearly marked Made in Italy.
Tower sold made in Italy Super Tigres for decades.
Only the very last of them were made in China.

I will take every Super Tigre I can get I like them. The sad story of Super Tigre goes like this. The Italian owner needed to update machinery etc. and didn't have it or didn't want invest it and sold out. Then everything was shipped by the new owner to China where production was restarted. Some updating was do and there was a learning curve on the part of the Chinese workforce. Like a lot of engine brands the demand dropped off and production was stopped. A search for a buyer was unsuccessful. Dace it the hobby is flooded with companies forced to quit business when the market got lean. The companies like Saito, Futaba, and OS who have major products in other business lines to keep afloat are the ones doing the best. Fox was a oil field manufacturer but that part of the business slipped to so their engines are no more.

I also like Super Tigre’s. I use to think they were cheap, crappy engines until I saw a fellow member at the field with a G40 in a 4 star 40. I remember It had an interesting bark to it as he throttled it. Couldn’t believe how fast it was.

The trick with Super Tigres is you have to break them properly or they don't run with a flip. The guys who had all the problems were the type that open the box take the engine out and throw away the instructions without bothering to read them. They bolt the engine on and go flying and then wonder why the engine doesn't run right and has no power..

If you are typical of the methanol fliers around here, about 1/3 to 1/2 of those engines are in planes. Probably a backlog of kits and scratch drawings for the rest
Right now I have 16 flyable planes, three needing repairs, 8 kits,1 nearly completed kit and 2 unassembled ARF.
And always willing to expand the fleet in any of those areas.
Yes, even planes needing repairs

All but the fa-56 & fa-65 are full waiting to be used. I probably have 30+ kits that need to be built as well. My problem is every time I pull out a kit or engine to sell I’ll look it over, then decide I’d rather keep it. Maybe my wife or right, I need therapy. 🤣
actually, my rc hobby is my therapy.

Who am I kidding I wouldn't sell them either! I still mourn the loss of a kit I sold because the old guy wanted to build out of nostalgia and then the bum turned around and sold it. I won't take his calls or emails anymore either.

Yeah I sold a few kits I regret selling now. The hobby being what it is most of the kits are more expensive (especially with shipping) and some are irreplaceable.

Well if you have something you need to release to aid your therapy I'm happy to help you out...

I sell nothing given to me, strictly speaking.

He insisted I take something I tried to give it to him. I got played, never again. What really hacks me is I really like the kit. Now I think I'll find another one and buy it when I can. I'll pass it off as the high cost of education.

I have another confession... I don't fly, I just like the engines!
I have the same problem with foamies. I have over 50 in my collection. Big (2.1m) and small (400mm).
I have Real-Flite 9 I play with from time to time, but no one local to fly with. Local Hobby Shops are more surface stuff and answer my questions with stuff even I know is wrong!
I realize FOAM is a 4-letter word here, but I figure if I ever get the balls to fly, I will have inventory at least to warm up with!

I blame Petrincic Bros RC and Discover RC for this.
Does anyone know if the guy that runs saito-engines.info/ is still around? This has been like a bible to me so far (Brenton Watkins).
The Glow Engine Enthusiast on youtube had me hooked too until I found his last post. I was deflated.

There is a surface hobby shop about 5 minutes from here in an old Rexall drug store. The guy has a large track and he organizes races. He is only open Thursday thru Sunday. I think where he makes his money is by selling parts to the racers so they can fix what they broke so the can get into the next heat. Oh and he only sells electric car stuff, no exhaust fumes that way.

I called local HS and asked if they had glow fuel, told him I had a Saito 4 stroke. He replied "No, you have a 2 stroke". I walked down there with a Saito FA-65 and confused the hell out of him!
