Thanks Gary and Jim, the Dr. appointment was a non event. When I got ready to run that black 50 I stumbled across a box of 50 parts. I now have a 3rd 50..We're having a 3 day fly in at our field, I will be flying the black 50 and the RCM 40. It will be first use of the green JR.

That would be my brothers home built Cobra with the Lincoln LS 7 suspension, a Ford 302 bored to 306, 400 hp, 5 speed later Mustang tranny.

That Lincoln IRS is a sweet package!

A "box of junk parts" is pretty useless to some.
To a few folks it is a fine engine waiting to be re-born That box is in good hands.

Haven't heard from Pedro lately(?)

When a born again Gear Head finds a box like that, a good time is at hand.
I just finished running the 50 for one hour on approximately 8 oz of fuel, report below.

Saito 50 made from used and new parts including RJM ring,
Fuel====Wildcat 10% with 18% full syn,
1st prop====HY 12 x 6==rpm===9,810
2nd prop====Xoar 12x6==rpm==10,100
Idle for both 2,400
Plug===Sonic Tronics/Glo-Devil 4c
The conditions are poor for a picture.

The 50 is very smooth at all rpm.

Yes, Agate Black, and 8' bed. It checked all but two boxes for replacing the F-150, those being Magma Red and Marsala interior, but overall a direct replacement for the truck I had to give up to get this one. My only regret comes up when I have to fill the tank. Tough going from 21 MPG to 15 MPG, but double the power, double the GVWR, Double the truck over all. I have already hooked it up to the 5th wheel, but didn't take a picture. This truck will make long vacation trips a breeze for the whole family, much more room in the back seat and all three can sit comfortably without being on top of each other. and a much more stable platform for towing, the last F-350 was too short and the setup just didn't work out as well as it should have.. I now have only one truck to maintain, but I need to have a discussion with the insurance company, they originally quoted $366 for 6 months on a 2022, and this is a 2019, and they added $300 on renewal. Somehow the math isn't adding up.

I've been keeping an eye out for a 91 cylinder as well.

Run an ad in the classifieds for a cylinder or parts engine. Repost it every couple of weeks. Something will turn up.

2 questions.
1) what Klotz do I buy for glow fuel, straight synthetic, no castor? it's been a lo-ng time since I have bought some!
2) did Towers and Horizon stop selling Klots? their search won't bring it up.

BTW, to add; I would like to start a post on RCU about how crummy Tower's/Horizon's search engine is. but I have to believe it will be removed. you know, I have had other stores that buy from Towers/Horizon (as I talked to them on the phone) complain about the new site and new search engine!

Jim, I don't mix my own glow fuel due to the unavailability of methanol around here. If I did, I would mix Klotz Techniplate and Super Techniplate at 50/50 to use for oil. That yields something like 2.5% caster when mixing 18% total oil to your fuel. I think that's what Gary does. I may have gotten the idea from him.

thanks, I have straight Methanol with 6% Castor, bought it for my Super Tartan. so all I need is Techniplate. I want to use it for braking in my HP 61 and K&B 100. so "Techniplate" it is.
I had Klotz in my favorites, but I have a new computer so it's not there now. I didn't think to look it up Klotz on Google Images.

thanks.
Jim

Summit racing and Amazon both sell Klotz Techniplate.

Roughly half and half red Morgan heli fuel (NOT the "low smoke" type) 30 % nitro/23% oil. To straight methanol, adding 4oz T Plate. Gives me easy starts, easy storage and long bearing life year round cold and hot. Works from singles to 3, 5 7 Cyl radials. All comes from local sources at 2/3 the cost of pre mixed over the counter containers roughly.
Nice contrails ta boot. Works fur me.

Above, I am trying to help a friend sort out the timing on a Saito 200 TI, Saito code VV at Horizon. Apparently that is a common problem when assembling a 200 TI.

I found this Sail propeller yesterday, a 12 x 6, I mounted it on the 50 yesterday. Does anyone else know of these. Thanks

It's a good lookin prop.

I have never used that brand but I would certainly have tried them if I had seen them. I use wood exclusively.

Can't say Dave but could be a "store brand" generic and made under other names as well

Years ago, the great old distributor "World Engines" would bring baskets of real nicely made props to the Toledo RC Expo and sell them at very low prices. Sure miss those folks.

The prop patterns are similar to yours.(?)
