Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have a super low time 91 cylinder in perfect condition. First one to send me $50 shipped gets it.
Just kidding Jim.
Give me some time to disassemble the parts engine, clean up the cylinder and verify the valves hold a good seal, then I'll send it your way.

The previous owner was a plane crasher. The cylinder is newer than the rest of the engine, so it's at least the second cylinder.

Is that the turned aluminum Saito muffler?
The Turbo "Header" RPM gains can be obtained or exceeded with home-made mufflers of proper dimension. Also, the anti-reversion principle can be applied to co-axial, open ended pipes with a similar power gain but no muffler pressure. Works with the Saito check valved case pressure system.
Now that you have the lathe

This home made exhaust system has an internal, co-axial anti-reversion tube. Reverse cone outer tip. Picked up 180 RPM over the stock Saito cast muffler on this FA-150 Also weighed less than the Saito system.

Yes sir, it is the turned muffler which I no longer have, that's a great looking muffler, is it soldered together? Thanks
PS, Bjorn is shipping the new ring this AM, he must be a little behind on his orders. I ordered it on the 15th.

Good deal on the ring, we are all anxious to see the Hobbs - Frankenengine Special come to life.
The brass muffler is hard silver-soldered (brazed), which can be done with a MAPP torch. The MAPP is like a Propane torch but a special gas. Clean parts well at the joint and use good Silver Solder flux.

thanks Lonnie, big, big time!!
make sure you send me your address in the PM.

LOL it looks like I won't have need to be messing with the intake valve in that cylinder! goody goody.
but nevertheless, if I could find another 91 cylinder, not ^as nice, I would still like to try again to put a 100 intake valve in it.
thank you Lonnie!!

An RC Specialties Turbo Header will help if you're looking for more top end.

Not really only offered for a possible 150 to 200 RPM gain. They package up close to the engine and sound nice. With the recent Saito price leap, the RC Specialties is an attractive alternative.

They make some nice 90 degree adapters too. I do occasional wish the had a 45 degree available. Don't forget to check the scratch and dent page to save a few $.

Makes having a metal lathe all the more worthwhile. High performance mufflers of all types, tailpieces, elbows, whatever. Same day service and less than $2 materials in most cases.

The best metal lathe and best boat to have is a friend's.

Seriously though, I'll end up with a metal lathe and mill after I retire and empty my shop of all the cabinetry machines, construction equipment and surplus building supplies. Perhaps a Smithy combo lathe/mill. I had a friend with a Smithy Midas, used it a few times and liked it.

Sure thing there! Those tools contributed to virtually every hobby I have had over the last 55 years. Ham Radio, Motorcycles, Photography, Miniature Engines, Gunsmithing, Beekeeping,
Archery all benefitted.
When I retired, I gave both of my lathes, along with the Bridgeport etc to my son. He already had a very comprehensive woodshop with industrial grade machinery. He lives only 5 miles from here.
Love it, I gained space and still have access to the machinery. Keep the key to the shop very close at hand.

Teasin for the moment, I had to replace the fuel line on my Craftsman LT 2500, then I cut and split about 50 pieces of firewood. My first real physical workout since the cancer thing. I held up very well, I may have to take Geri to the emergency room. Keep watching. Thanks

Good to hear you're feeling well enough to get back into your groove.
Best wishes for Geri. I know, on a personal level, what it's like to see your life partner's health decline.
Nevermind the ribbing about running the 66, you have more important things going on.

While taking breathers yesterday I dismantled the 56 I assembled from parts and painted it black, the parts look great. It will wear a GK cam housing and back plate. It will also wear the early, not so shiny rocker covers. In between all of that, I repaired a bicycle for my daughter in law.

Teasin' is fine by us. The updates only make the run results more enjoyable. That "Cancer thing" is all too familiar here too! Feels good to get back to work afterwards.
Best wishes for Geri as well.

Guys, if any of you would like a never started, modified 20cc gas burning, smelly 2St. I may make a trade if I like what I see. I bought it some 10 years ago for my gasser Heli, but it seems I can't sell it. see my link.
so why didn't I use it you ask. well. because the Heli kit had so many defects, I stopped building it and sold the kit. so the engine has been setting here. and yes. I really do have $585 invested into the engine! the Heli kit was discontinued so the engines were not selling. so now the price of this engine has come down to $220. how unfortunate for me LOL
so let me know if you have something to trade.
