One timing pinion coming up, DA has that oil for: https://www.desertaircraft.com/collections/oil-recommended-by-da
At Amazon the Redline is 99 cents more.

Apparently the Kart people consider this to be better than the Motul, at least price wise.

Yep I saw the Kart oil and the price differences.Wonder what the oil differences are(?)
Motul not the issue. I was actually comparing the pint price to the gallon pricing. Just using Amazon as an example. The gallon of Redline is $100; Buying a pint at a time at $20 per pint comes out to $160 per gallon. A gallon of course may be a bit much but maybe could split one with a friend. The gallon price of course works out to $12.50 per pint.
The reason I asked about prices you have seen is because I have been able to beat the Amazon price for Klotz by buying locally.

Dave,
See if you can find someone to soda blast the cylinder. Plug the ports with corks, stuff the bore with paper and clean it up with a soda blast.
Don't let them talk you in to glass beading!

Nice job!
I believe silver Saito parts have an external color coat from the factory. Not sure how you took it when the bugger came back black.
Bill must have been trying to make it into a Vincent.

The Black Shadow look eh, no thanks.
Jim I saw couple of Chevy cast iron intake manifolds that had been lightened by an acid bath, that kind of soda might remove the cylinder from the paint.

Have you already picked out a soda blast system? I do have some of a coating that is similar to what Saito uses. Will post a pic later.
Or perhaps send a PM.
I hear you on that!
No more Black Shadow for me, already had one.
I'm holding out for a Black Lightning now

New on the Saito Forum. All my engines are dated in the early to mid 80s. My FA120 Fathead has a D on the right mount lug. And my Exhaust exits out the right side. My Carb is the brass adjustment disc where the fuel enters the Carb.I got here by chance hoping, To find out where I could find replacement parts and maybe a cross reference as to what parts will fit my early FA120. I used heat shrink to seal the push rod tubes. Seems to be working. But I need the metal intake seal and exhaust seal. My bearings I got from BoCa bearings in Florida. And the seals from another company. I really like the old stuff. And I fly an Aeronca Champ. Full scale and R C AA industries. Also have Presedent kit. Just can't find a scale Windscreen. Great posts I've read several but all lack the information I am looking for.AJ.
I would use a sonic cleaner harbor freight has a nice stainless unit. It’s perfect my 120 was like yours burnt on crud. I used 88 degreaser mixed with deionized water. It took five 30 minute 180 degree cycles. And it looked like your case. AJ

Thanks AJ, I have a brass cleaner. (for shell casings) the walnut medium is too coarse for the 30 cylinder. Lonnie above, (Glowgeek) working on a Fathead as we speak. I may repeat the antifreeze treatment since I have new three speed crockpot and new antifreeze for it.
Thanks Gary, I've been looking at a $29.00 one on Amazon, I don't think I need a big dollar one.

Welcome to the thread AJ.
These two parts kits are for the newer FA-120s engine but most of the gaskets and orings will work on your Fathead.

Hi Glow geek/1200 thank you for the post. Ya I’ve got that covered on the carb and. Gasket kit. The S series exhaust intake metal seals I’ve ordered and they are smaller round compaired to the fat head. It’s been a great runner. Hate to retire it. Been looking for a cross reference guide, can’t really afford the new offerings. So much electric and ARF, Nitro is gone south. All the hobby shops from years ago,are gone. horizon Hobby I’ve ordered from, but all the parts were wrong. My intake is leaking and that makes a tuning almost impossible. With the brass adjustment. Keeps stalling from idle to full power. Thinking about cutting down a AN-3 washer it just might fit? AJ.
