Just remembered, you're talking about an FA-300TTDP engine. With that one you will need TWO Iron Bay regulators, one for each carb, for best results.
Have you tried just turning the pressure regulator screw in a turn or two, and resetting the carbs? I told you to start with the regulator srew out 5 turns or so, try it down to 4 or 3 1/2 turns.

And are you using two clunks and separate fuel feeds for each carb? A single line often will make the engine go lean when nose up.

I'm not using two clunks I have one large one. I did try the pressure regulator down a few turns. If I used the iron bay regulator would I need two or one before the tee?

We are talking about an engine that will suck three ounces per minute at full throttle. I just don't know if one regulator would give you that much flow. I'd have doubts about a single Perry pump too. You might check with the manufacturers and see if their specs include flow at this rate, or if they think either would be satisfactory.

I have a Saito 100 on a UCD 60 and it has run great!
Broke it in a little longer than the manual recommended.
It has been very easy to set up to run installed inverted and have had no deadsticks or cutouts.
I just got back in to RC after nearly 20 years and have 3 Enya's that were nothing like this engine...all 4 strokes...a .60, a 1.20 and an R120. I never could get a reliable idle out of them and the OS's of the time just outpulled them.
I have a question for the pros here:
The flying season is down to weeks you can count on 1 hand here in SE Iowa. I want to put the engine away for the season knowing I won't have an rusting problems over the winter. How far should I take the engine down to assure I have rust preventing oil on all the bearings? I plan on using Marvel Mystery Oil. Should I flush the fuel residue out before oiling?

Hello Guys
Just received my first Twin Engine a Hobico Twinstar and would love to put two SAITOS on it
Specs indicate 0.15 to 0.25 TS and 0.26 to 0.30 FS
I want to go with 3 BLADES props 9X7 for clearance..
Any body can indicate what would be the reight choice here since would not like to be short on power but also nor overpower and overweight..
Which of SAITOS 30 or 40 would be closer to a Thunder Tiger 0.36 Two Stroker??

The Saito FA-40 engines would obviously be closer in power than the 36 TTs, but the TT engines are on the point of just being too much power. Go with the FA-40 engines.

Yes you are right about the 36s being on the high side but considering using 3 Blades would equalize a bit on the exess power dont you think.
My quesion is would the Saito 0.40s be OK using 3 blades on this Aircrafts considering they are less power than 0.36 TT 2 strokers

I ran the big 2.20 for about 30 minutes and then got some more numbers for the following.
Fuel----WildCat 10% Premium Extra
Prop----ProZinger=20x8-----7,590 rpm
Idle with ProZinger 20x8 2,160 rpm
Prop 16x10 three blade MasterAirscrew=8,140 rpm
Idle 2,240.
When running the 16x10 TB I had to lean the HS screw a full quarter turn over the setting for the 20x8. This tells me this engine could benefit from the optional pump when running the top end of the prop range.
I wish I had set the needles with the 16x10, they were a **** to set with the 20x8 and piece of cake with the 16x10 triple blader.
I could not get the lower idle of the 20x8 with the 16x10, not enough flywheel action, I think.
I could not test with the 20x8 MA Classic it is badly out of balance and needs considerable work. I'll resume this testing when I get a shipment of S&W fuel I'm expecting.

Just wanted to let you know how it turned out. I installed a Perry Pump with a bypass system. I used three lines in the tank. A vent,a return for the bypass,and a large fuel line. The engine is awsome it sounds and runs great. Thanks for your help.

I just purchased 2 Saito .72's for a B-25 that I will be starting this winter, I am looking for mufflers. I will be mounting the engine inverted and was hoping to purchase a pitts style inverted muffler but I have been unable to find any. Can you guys help me find some, if not pitts then maybe another type

For those interested in how I obtained the 2,160 rpm idle, the LS needle is precisely 1/2 turn from bottomed out. Since the needles effect each other somewhat I'm going to back the LS needle out one full turn and see if that will let me run the HS needle in a leaner position. I may not gain a thing but it's worth a try.

You sure know your Saitos. I have at the present several Saitos (65,72,80,91,180) and all are great engine. The only thing I wish Saiot would do is raise their compression a tad so we could use low or no nitro fuel and save a few bucks. I like many here are very interested in a 125 engine for 90 size airplanes. I think the 125 could come close to the YS 110 if properly designed.
I think Saito should sponsor you as a represenative of their company. I have tried to look up the Saito company on the internet to suggest just that, but haven't found much information on them.

Look at Performance Specialties also. They make a swiveling muffler setup.
When Saito makes a new engine such as the 100 for example, I wonder if they think, "this is it!" we've really done it..... or do they think, "hmmmm, wait until everyone has purchased one of these, THEN we'll simply bore it out to 125 and sell a million more!"
