RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I have decided that I am going to put my old 40 size trainer on floats but am trying to decide which engine to use. What do you guys think a 65, 72, or 82? I still want to be able to swap back and use it as a trainer if I have someone to help but I am really not sure what difference there really is between the 65 and 72 and what would be enough on a 40 sized water plane. It still has the original 40 FP in it. The plane is an Easy Fly 40 (1998) which was one of the early variants of what is now the H9 trainer. Thanks for the help in advance.

My math skills are not so good, does this make sense ? I took a fresh gallon of R&T 20/20, poured out exactly a quart, then added a quart of methanol. At that point I figure I have 15/15, then I added an ounce of castor, which I think brought my oil content up to just shy of about 16%. Am I thinking correctly here ? Or am I overlooking something ? OK, thanks ! Whew ! Thats a relief... A friend of mine came up with that idea because I like to buy my fuel from a friend who stocks the stuff for their local club as a convienence, but that 20/20 is too oily and smokey. Now it seems much better at least. I have only run a Magnum 70 with it so far, because if that engine fried I could care less. lol

Hi Everyone,
I should have joined the Saito club a long time ago. The smallest Saito I have is a 1.00 and I have 4 of them, I also have a 1.20, 1.50 and 2 - 1.80’s, I also have a 3.00 with twin carbs & plugs.

Cool... I'd like to know more about the G60F, like what size prop will it swing, and weight. I wonder if he has run his at all... I'd love to here about it. I think it must be a Japan only engine. It has elect ign so it can't be that old...

I believe I see a coil & condenser in the pic. Model engines used that type ignition as far back as the 1930s. The glow plug didn't come along untill 1947 or so.

The old ignition engines usualy run on 3 parts gasoline to one part 70wt motor oil. The smallest that comes to mind is the Arden .09. There were dozens of manufacturers of ignition model engines, most sadly defunct now. Many of the old engines are still im use in Society of Antique Modelers events. (Check out the SAM web page- you will find it interesting).

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the welcomes, it’s nice to be here, I do love my Saito’s, I have had such good luck with them it’s unbelievable. My pride and joy is the Saito 3.00TTDP. I got it to go in a Great Planes PW Extra. I do have a couple questions that maybe someone here knows more about than I do. The Saito 3.00 has a built in pump, it’s not really a pump from what I see, and it uses crank case pressure to pressurize the tank, correct? The reason I ask is because I would like to put the tank on the CG, will it work, or am I asking for trouble? The other thing is I would like to run a on board glow driver, I have found a couple of them I like, I would like to run a lipo battery but can’t seem to find a regulator that will drop the voltage to 1.5 volts, it seems like someone should have one, I have looked but not having much luck.
Thank you all for having me,
Doug
