"the back side of the motor mount surface"?

Illustrate, I'm a bit confused.

The plastic rear covers distort under the screw heads causing the carb mount to tilt out and the intake manifold to leak at the head

He wants to make an aluminum cover like a giant washer that covers all the screw holes to help support the plastic rear cover?

Sorry I have not made an accurate description of what I'm talking about. I am looking to replace the washers on the surface opposite the motor. This would be beneficial on my profile plane where the flat washers slightly indent the wood.

I was wondering if a company makes them? If not, I will do it myself and post some pictures here.

Went to Home Depot and found a piece of 1/8" thick flat aluminum for $4.19. Will cut it with a hacksaw and clean up with a file and Dremel. Might even polish it!

Flew my Saito .50 yesterday!!! First four stroke Ihave ever flown. I kinda like it. Better in a lot of ways than 2 strokes . Will 4 strokes replace all my 2 strokes, no probably not but I love variety so Iplan on using them a lot.
Now to install the Saito .40 on my Kadet Jr .

I had a Kadet Jr. with an OS .25FP. 3 channel, no ailerons. I had an "expert" club flier fly it and he did not realize it was 3 channel. 'cause I hooked up the rudder to the aileron stick channel. Great fun.
Enjoy.

Regards,

Richard

Hi Everyone, I have a two-part question.

First, was something new done to the Saito 125's? I'm thinking about asking Santa for one for Christmas (won't need it until then)... or am I th inking about the changes made for the Saito 82?

The plane that I want to put the 125 into is a Top Flite P-51D Gold Edition http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...EARCH=TOPA0110

Has anyone put the 125 into this plane? What's your opinion?

Was it too much engine?

Was the fit too tight?

Thanks for your opinions,

Bob

Send Santa that letter and you will never regret getting the Saito 125.

Well, if it doesn't fit, it won't be of any use to me. I've already chosen the project. I need to know if anyone has tucked one under that TF P-51D cowl, and did they have any problems?

Thanks for the comment,

Bob

I have made a "nut plate" out of copper clad PC board material to which I soldered the nuts for the engine holddown screws. I usually make it in a "U" shape so that the center of the "U" clears the bottom of the crankcase. If I want or need it captured to the engine mount or firewall or fuselage side, I just CA it or use a little screw. That way your nuts don't get loose and you lose them.

Regards,

Richard

Sign me up for the Saito Club. I own a 45, 56, 82, 100 and 2 115's. I like all but the 100 which is a vibrator. I have checked the balance of the prop and the tru turn spinner and back plate. I am wondering if the crank can be bent but I have not seen a wobble and I do not have a dial indicator to check the crank. Engine has a tendency to backfire when starting. Glad I use the double nut system.

Vibration and backfiring are symptoms of needles being out, but I am having a senior moment and can't remember which one or which way. I am sure the experts will chime in. Good luck.

Richard,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I will check the needle valves in the morning. My club members start flying at the break of day so I will be out to the field bright and early. I will keep you posted. I forgot to mention that I am running YS 20/20 fuel and an OS F plug.

Love the Kadet Jr, mine came with an OS25FP that was well worn, replaced it with a sweet Irvine .25 . That Irvine is just about broke in (after almost a gallon) and I think the Saito 40 would be really happy on it for break in. It only has 3 channels and it is wonderful to fly. Very relaxing.

Hmm, when I first got mine, I over-heated it a few times to the point of dead sticks. I never lost any power, though.
