Ahah! That's the muffler that was on my 1st 150.
It vibrated loose in mid flight over standing corn & was never seen (or heard from) again.

has anyone attached a perry fuel pump to an sa100? I attached it per the diagram, and my question is did you have to do a lot of adjustment to the pump to get hte right pressure?

Are you talking about the ocsilating pump or the 1 that operates from engine crankcase pulse?

Are you running the VP-20 shaker or -30 pulse pump? If you have the -20 you need to have it mounted horizontal.

Which version of 270 twin is of a newer design - the one with intake and exhaust ports looking back and carb on the back?
What are other design and technical differences between these two?

If he's running the shaker you should have tuned the engine by now and then add the pump.Reason being is the pump is just run at slight pressure when you move the tank back,it's an aid not a bandaid for tuning problems you may already have.They are very reliable too.

I have used that set-up for many flights in my 89" Dyynaflite PT-19. I never had any issues W/fuel delivery.
The fuel tank is centered above the CG. The C&H ignition module & battery for same is located in the compartment behind the engine. Locating the tank over the CG not only made room for these components, the CG never changes W/the amount of fuel in the tank. It also makes access to the tank fittings & fuel lines easier to access.
All the pump does is maintain a consistant fuel delivery to the carburetor. The muffler tap pressure is pushing the fuel, the oscelating pump pulling.

The 1st question you answered yourself. They still use that configuration on the FA300T that replaced the 270.
I was never aware of the other type FA270T.
From the looks of the pictures, it seems like the only difference would be the cylinders as well as the intake manifold. The cam housings on both are the newer high case style.

I have a saito 90 TS twin i bought a while back, was looking at taking out the glo plugs but my wrench doesn't fit too in the head too well, was using an OS long reach glo plug wrench. Is there some sort of special plug wrench for saito engines?

This afternoon I flew the Satio 180 on 5% fuel ( it's all I had, ran out of 15% ) that is in mt 150 size Hanger 9 P-51 It has an 18x6 Vess prop on it and turned 8045 rpm's ( the sweet spot ) not to rich and not to lean. Does this sound like a good rpm for this motor with the 18x6 prop on it ?

Original FA-270T had an M-8X1.25 thread and Roll Pins on the Prop Shaft, and leatherette washers for the Prop Hub.
It had a Muffler (with two straight parallel exhaust pipes) connected with flange nuts to the L-shaped exhaust pipes from the cylinders,
and two small tubes on the bottom (one for pressure, one for smoke). It also had two breather nipples on the bottom of the Case.
The Intake Pipes were on the sides of the cylinders, and the X-shaped Engine Mount was about 10mm thick.
Later version (mine is MK II with production code A embossed on the bottom of the Case near the backplate) has a 10-32 threaded shaft,
roll pins and leatherette washers, no muffler, two longer exhaust pipes (clamped together) with the two smaller tubes on one pipe, only one
breather nipple on the bottom of the case 30mm behind the Prop Hub, and the Engine Mount is only 3mm thick.
Both of these have choke slide plates on the Carburetor, but no Velocity Stack or round Engine Mounts.
Note: The Roll Pins on your Prop Hub appear to be bent (as mine were). Take great care in removing them - lateral pressure on the Hub can
cause it to bind on the Shaft (as mine did).
Note 2: On all engines not being used (no Prop on the Shaft), I use tubing between Hub and Washer to prevent loss of Woodruff Key.

Ken, does it have a letter designator on the right lug, that will come closer to telling you when it was made. My very first gen 1.50 has no letter on the right lug nor does my first gen .80.
