The new style OS four strokes after the Surpass II models must not be very popular for I've never seen one at the flying field.

Saitos have a great resale value too. I had two engines for sale, Saito 100 &amp; Magum 91. The Saito sold in a day for the asking price. The Magnum took two listings and a price reduction.<div>Merry Christmas to all.</div>

The new style OS's are quite pricey so that may explain why they're not seen much. There is no direct comparison between the OS 56 and Saito 56 or 62 from what I have seen but it appears the OS falls just short of what 62 puts out. I'll post links tomorrow. Personally, I like the styling of the Saito better but for this price I'll have to try the OS. I'm starting to warm up to the new OS style.

Saito's do hold their value, no doubt. I started my search for a good (some not so good) used Saito 50, then 56 engine. All the ones I've seen are $100 plus and at that price I'd rather go new and avoid the hassle of rebuilding and other potential problems.

Merry Christmas all!

Hi guys, I have two FA-50's and a .91 Special, can I join the club? Question on the -50's; will the -56 gasket set work in the -50? Love my Saito engines, they look like old Indian cylinders.

After making it past Friday I suspect the forecast is a bit better for 2013. Still, a bit worried the Mayans didn't put out a new calendar.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Re engines. I have a 50, (used) a 56 (first Gold Knight into OZ), a 62 (as yet unused I have managed to get the use of other peoples) and 2 x 65's as well as a couple of ''big ones'' and 2 x gas engines (all Saitos). My son is sitting vulture like on my shoulder waiting for the day that I ''loose it'' and he will swoop on that part of my engine collection secure in the knowledge that not even the riders of the apocolypse (hope I spelt that right) would get them out of my collection.
The 65 and the 50 are my preferred engines, the 56 and the 62 have proven to be great competition engines. So

Merry Xmas to all and a great new year. I am off to welcome a new grand child into the world as well as catch up with the 6 grand daughters and i grand son. And giving thanks that my army helicopter mechanic son is home from O/S and thanks to Julia's spending there isn't sufficient funds for hin to be sent to Afghanistan next year
Catch ya guys

Put it in your will to be buried with them.

From my own experience between the OS 90 Surpass and the Saito 91, both provide adequate power for their intended craft, but the Saito always seemed the beefier of the two.

Personally, if I had that much to spend I would shop around for a Saito. Just my opinion.

I just traded a Surpass 91 for a Saito 91. I could not be happier. the chap that got the OS was happy too.

Merry Christmas to all
I now have a Saito 91 on my list of engines. The little 50 had some trouble yesterday with the cold and the humidity. also last inch of fuel in the bottom of a gallon.
i still took it around three flights. wood stove maxed out, and hamburgers on the grill. good times fellows.

Earl, I can't adjust the one I made, so I'd buy it just to ease the setup Thanks, Dave
Hobbsy, did you use longer bolts to secure the pic-up? Thanks.

OK, I pulled the trigger and bought the OS FSa-56. At $200 ($212 with tax), I couldn't resist. It even came with an extra OS "F" plug. This engine appears to rival the Saito 62 although that depends on which prop you use. I couldn't find a direct comparison so I'll post links to what I found.

Not trying to start a war here as I really like both brands. I just happen to be a sucker for a good deal.

I tried uploading pictures of my new OS with my Saito 65 but it doesn't seem to be working. [:@]

I've never liked used oil being pumped into the combustion chamber with fresh air and fresh fuel.

Then, there's the nickel plated liner thing. The Saito single piece cylinder is a far better design, imo.

Anyway, you did ask.

Yes sir, I did, I'll have to check one and see how long I used. The C&H mounting plates are counter sunk. Dan could probably say if the C&H bracket requires longer bolts.

Blw, I did ask for it.

Crankcase oil being scavaged through the cylinder is something new but it doesn't seem to affect the performance on this engine. As for the peeling issue, I think that happened to abc engines only and they improved the plating process with the AX series engines. The one piece cylinder head design is better. No arguing with that.

The 56 fs liner is steel. Piston is aluminum.
