Anyone recognize this rear carb Super Tigre?
Just came across this locally. Anybody recognize this Super Tigre 40? I'm not a collector, but with the rear carb it seems unusual.
Have not picked it up from the widow yet so it is not cleaned up. Worth getting?

Supertigre G40

That engine was a high performance racing engine in it's day. It was the last pylon engine preceding the Supertigre X40. It was available with carb for R/C or without for C/L rat racing. It had the only 2 barrel carb that I had ever used where the Idle was through the pin hole venturi with it's own needle and high speed was through the regular carb with barrel. You needed to run 2 fuel lines into the tank to make sure that the idle venturi would have it's own fuel supply.

thank you
Thanks, Mr. Motor!
I suspected it might have been a racing engine. The owner was an accomplished pattern pilot and owned a great deal of top end pattern equipment. Pretty much top end stuff from the late 70's mostly, and early 80's.
Kind of a neat engine. I will take a closer look at the carb set-up based upon your comments.
Thanks again.

Now that looks familure. I have one just like it except it is a .71. It is NIB yet. Never found a plane to use it on with the rear carb and all. Nothing visually different about the carb. It has only one fuel line. If I remember correctly it was purchased in the early 70's. This was back when Tigres were tigers.

Supertigre G21 .40 rear carb
Ha, ha! It has been a while since you posted about this amazing motor. I have one nicely broken in and very clean with a rear carburettor made in West Germany of all things. It is in excellent condition. On exhaust side: Made in Italy by Micromeccanica SATURNO on opposite side: Supertigre 40 nestled in a "V" then G*21 pierced by the pointy part of the*"V"
Would be interesting to find out the age of this one.
