Default Can Someone Identify this Engine???

I inherited this (old?) engine but don't know what it is. I can tell it's an ignition control line motor but who is the manufacturer and how can I tell what the displacement is? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

You have a genuine OK Cub. Specifically it's a Mohawk 29 or 35 and was available in the late 40's and early 50's. The plug is an Arden which was the first origional genuine glow plug.
Incidentally the Mohawk was nothing to write home about. It was heavy, vibrated, and really didn't make too much power. Yes some will have very pleasent memories of using that motor, but it was a cheap motor. Didn't see too many people using them.

Thanks much for your input Dennis. It's had me stumped for quite awhile. I assume it is (was) an ignition engine, the crankshaft behind the prop is "cammed" for a set of points and your right, someone stuck a glow plug in it at some point in time. I have no use for a control line engine and it sounds like it isn't worth much. If you are interested, I'll send you the motor (free) otherwise it will probably end up in the trash!
Thanks again,
Steve
p.s. I'll also throw in some miniature spark plugs.

Default Mohawk

If Dennis does not want the motor I will pay shipping to add it to my engine collection that gets displayed at mall shows. [email protected]

Might as well relate an amusing anecdote on this motor. If you look you'll see that the cylinder is held on by those 2 screws and that's it. I remember in about 1951 a guy started one of those up as a glow on a Ringmaster and took off. He got about 4 or 5 laps into the flight and the cylinder let go and took off like a missle never to be seen again. Really not a cool motor to run as a glow

I think that guy was me..had one 50 or so years ago, don't remember what plane but it certainly could have been a ringmaster. sure enough, the head blew off. Isn't it amazing the stuff still stored in your head after all these years.
