Default exhaust extensions

Does adding exhaust extension to your 2 stroke engines cause problems? I am running twin os46fx's in a mossi and I need to divert the exhuast a bit more than the mufflers do. I have used the dubro (gray) exhaust extensions in the past but was once told that they can cause problems and cause your engine to run much hotter.

any thoughts and/or advise is appreciated.

Happy flying,

Mike,

Default RE: exhaust extensions

What is more important, diversion of exhaust gases or 100 more RPM? You have to make the decision. I would suppose there is some loss of RPM but not noticeable, and perhaps some increase in back pressure. But I use them with no apparent problems, usually to do what you want to do, divert exhaust gases.

Good luck,

Cheers,

Chip

thank you for the quick reply Chip,

I will gladly give up 100rpm to keep the exhaust gasses and oils out of my necels.

Happy flying!

Those little grey exhaust extensions have zero effect. They aren'y long enough and their inside diameter is bigger than the muffler's opening.
