Default Cline check valve install

Hey all,
Trying to figure out how the Cline check valve gets installed, does it just get pushed into the pressure line?
Thanks

That's it, just beyond the pressure tap an 1/8th inch or so.

Blow in the thing in both directions to make sure it works correctly. Sometimes new ones are stuck and will not pass air in either direction. Also, you may have installed it backwards.

Enjoy

It does pass air in the one direction - blowing from the brass ferule side, it does seem quite hard to blow through, the other direction does not allow any air to pass through.

I had some problems with mine not passing enough pressure. I switched to a YS check valve and problem went away!

I'm curious; what does the check valve acheive? Does it help a poorly placed tank?

It allows pressure over atmospheric (pressure pulses from the engine's exhaust or crankcase) to build up in the fuel tank, which the Cline Regulator then "regulates" back to the carburetor. Without some pressure differential between the fuel tank and the carb, the regulator has nothing to regulate. <G>

Cline duckbill? I replaced that with a Foremost check valve and it has been trouble free for years

I just purchased a FORMOST check valve and plan on installing on the pressure line from the exhaust to the fuel tank. My attempt is to correct a problem losing back pressure on the low end. The fuel tank is not cracked and the cap is on securely. will this attempt help my problem by using a check valve?

It will cause you a big headache, the pressure will build up in the tank at full throttle and then when you go tp part throttle the pressure will be trapped by the check valve and cause you a very rich midrange. A check valve captures the peaks of the pressure pulses, so the tank pressure is very high, in the order of 6 to 9 psi.

Hobbsy, yes that is true but with a fuel pressure regulator the fuel pressure to the carb on the engine is constant. So it would not be a issue then.

Thanks Earl, I may be wrong but I don't think he's using a regulator, just the check valve. maybe he'll clarify that for us.

If he has a Cline check valve, then he is using a Cline regulator too, as they came with it.

Well I suppose that one doesn't have to use the regulator if they are racing. Then it is full throttle, go fast and turn left, after the race, cut the throttle to promptly kill the engine and dead stick on in. Using a pressurized fuel tank lets you run at peak RPMs and you can bore out the venturi more too.

I am not using a cline regulator. All I have is the FORMOST check valve.

Be sure and use a third line to the top of the tank to blow off pressure. It is easy to give yourself a glow bath trying to refuel a cline equipped set up.

If I used this check valve, i plan on relieving the pressure by pulling the exhaust hose off the check valve after each flight. When the weather breaks i plan on trying this new set-up. But first, I wll try and adjust the LSN first to see if that solves my problem.

That will work if you don't use the Cline check valve. Not trying to be a stickler but many people read these threads.
