Has anyone tried one of these ?
J’EN .57
the .40 that thinks it’s a .60! - now with baffled silencer as standard - still just £62.99.
We’ve been working for more than 2 years on this project- to see how far you can bore and stroke a .40 case before it either doesn’t work, or becomes too fragile.
We tried every piston and liner combination from .52 to .57 and after success with the .56 we have now arrived at a very nice .57!
The impressive JEN57 - black case and purple
(picture flash has made it a bit blue! - see other pictures below for correct colouring) head and prop
driver.
THE JEN 57; Just Engines .57
· Ringed piston and liner better bottom end
torque - and that's what the majority of our
customers need for 13" props, fun fly 3D
applications)
· twin ballraced
· twin bushed rod (for long life)
· nice easy to set twin needle carb.
· baffled, large volume, quiet silencer.
· large range of silencer options
(uses O.S. 46FX '37mm' exhaust port)
· the most comprehensive instructions
in the industry!! – running in, setting up,
after use care, recommended prop sizes
for all silencer combinations and pipes
(including manifold lengths) etc.
· 2 year limited warranty (conditions and exceptions apply*) + next day spares support
(if ordered by 12 noon, subject to post!)
· stunning black and purple colour
· R/C or C/L.
· optional running in service
· sport, aerobatics, 3D (Fun Fly), speed, scale
– can be configured and set up for any/all!!
Pricing 2007;
· With baffled, large volume silencer £62.99
· With Super Quiet (SQ) silencer £72.99
· With Pitts (J'EN PM) in cowl silencer £81.54
· With J'en/cvec 3D mini pipe £91.99
· With Throttle mini pipe £105.99
· With Purple Pipe system £107.99
(or £117.99 .60 size pipe)
Options;
C/L Venturi/NVA +£8 (see notes at bottom of page)
Running in service £15 (so your engine is delivered RTF!)
Performance; (ABC rated @ 1.8HP/17000)
Super Quiet Silencer, 13x6 @ 10,400
(compares to ASP .52 tested same day, same plug etc..10,100)
(and compares with most Chinese .61s we service @ 10,200)
Genesis Throttle Pipe, 13x4 @ 11,700
(a friend then brought round his rather expensive .50;
same day, same plug, same fuel, same throttle pipe @ 11,850)
Summary; more performance than our best selling .52 and .53 engines – almost as good as an engine twice the price! – and as good as most of the .60/.61s around!!
Clearly we can’t guarantee these figures on every engine – but it gives a true indication of the awesome performance for such a small, light unit.
see below for more prop performance data.

I think the only reason you won't find many who've tried the J'en .57 is the price. The pound to dollar ratio is really painful for us americans right now, even when they have the special monthly deals. I did buy a MOKI from just engines a while back and it was a pleasant transaction for sure.

The J'en, like the ASP, Magnum and several other 'brands' are all manufactured by one company; Sanye in China.
These engines share the same internal parts, although engines of some displacements, may be ringed in one brand and true chromium ABC in another.
Another Chinese manufacturer does the same and manufactures the current Super Tigre, the Tower and the GMS engine series.
I am not sure which of them makes the JBA...
TooHighToSee,
As to displacements that can 'fit' into a .40 size frame; Jett makes their .76 BSE engine, which fits into an OS (and clones) .40FX mount, is just 1 mm taller than the OS.46AX and is lighter than it is...
