RE: Do your Balls make noise ???
MT,
You must be very rich!
If you paid more than [link=http://www.rc-bearings.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=111_116_130&products_id=876&osCsid=a2bf8ac185070cb8b28a35dcd12c8a02]$24[/link] for the bearings in your engine, I would like to sell you a glow-plug for $200... I am quite sure you would accept this offer...[sm=lol.gif]
Steel bearings for this engine are [link=http://www.rc-bearings.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=81_87_104&products_id=730&osCsid=a2bf8ac185070cb8b28a35dcd12c8a02]under $10 from Paul at RC-Bearings[/link].
As to your question, ceramic bearings are a bit noisier than standard/C2 steel bearings of the same size.
The texture of the material is not as smooth as polished steel.
However, these bearings don't become noisier, as time is accumulated. They just last on and on.

I have been a satisfied BOCA customer since 1991 and have never had to replace any BOCA bearing and never changed the bearings in any engine I bought new except an Irvine .46 in which the green Engine Destroyer Fuel let them rust.

I never heard any ceramic bearing make THIS KIND (ding, ding, dong, dong...) of noise...
Maybe we should ask Paul McIntosh, if he stocks a replacement for such special cases...[sm=lol.gif]

I don't know why anyone would ever put ceramic bearings in their engine. It's not a gas turbine.
Those that do are just being sucked into the marketing hype of ceramics. Steel bearings are more than enough for ANY glow engine. As long as you use quality steel bearings and install them properly, and look after them, they will probably outlast you.
Ceramics are a marketing scam!
I would really like to hear from anyone who thinks their engine runs better and lasts longer because they are using ceramic bearings.

RE: Do your Balls make noise ???
I have never owned cermaics but steel bearings will wear out. I have worn out a few sets myself. They develop too much slack and begin hammering under load of the piston while running. All the bearings I am talking about were after 30+ gallons of fuel so I was happy with that. If you keep running them they will come apart and do damage to your engine. Luckily I have changed all of mine before it was too late. If you know your engine it will let you know when it is time to change by lower rpms, making sounds, etc. I may give a set a try later as I believe the ceramics will last much longer.

I wondered if my link would last. For those who are wondering, it was simply a segment from an Aussie national TV news segment seen all over Australia. I happened to see it when it aired .
