Default Hangar 9 Xtra Easy 2 with OS 50sx Ring

Just bought a H9 Xtra easy 2. Tossed the evolution engine that came with it and put in an OS 50 SX ringed engine. Does anyone have suggestions for a prop for this? Manual states 10x8 or 11x7. I would like to get the max performance out of this.. Not used to the small engines since I usually use gassers and turbines.

Max performance?

Try the APC 12.25X3.75. Tons of pull (unlimited vertical) with reasonable speed.

I have a Sig Kadet LT40 (70" W/s) with the same engine.

During breakin, I've been using an 11X6 with good results.

I plan on switching to a 12" prop soon.

Bottom line, it will be way overpowered, but I like that.

I have two OS50SX's on a a twin engine plane that I created. Has two fuses and two tail booms. Weighs in at over 10 lbs. with 26oz wing loading.
I am turning APC 12.25 x 3.75 props at 12,400 rpm. Unlimited vertical.
Lost starboard engine on take off on Saturday (fuel pressure line disconnected) she kind of grunted and groaned but was still able to climb out to a safe and comfortable altitude to set up for landing.
So I'd say you have enough engine on there. 11x7 props were too fast for my liking.
These engines will idle forever. Literally. I have idled at 2400rpm for 2 minutes solid (by my watch) and they will snap to wide open throttle instantly.

Oh, and expect extremely good fuel economy.

At 1/3 to 1/2 throttle, and with a 14 oz tank, I get 50 min flights.

Not bad for a 2-stroke.

Ya know, you would've been a whole lot further ahead if you'd just bought an ARF instead of buying the RTF and tossing the most expensive component on the plane in the trash!

I'll give the Evolution engine a good home. Send it to me!
