Tower .46 Problems
I just can't seem to get this engine to run right. I noticed problems right from the start on the break-in stand. After I got it started and set the needle valve for a good rich setting I tried pinching the fuel line to lean it out for a second. It leaned out and started to scream so I let go of the fuel line and it stays lean and continues to scream. The only way to get it to richen up again was to throttle down and then back up.
After break-in I installed it on my trainer and got it running what I thought was pretty good but it you tip the plane up on it's tail it goes way lean. If I set it so rich that it barely runs and tilt it strait up it leans out to about full power but at level flight it barely has any power. I have tried 2 different fuel tanks and several different fuels with no improvement.
I have had other experienced modelers try to adjust it with no success.
If anybody has had similar problems please let me know.

did yo try to adjust the low end?
You could check if there is an O-ring installed under the carb and all the screws are tight on the head and on the back plate.

Your fuel tank may be mounted wrong, also. Centerline of tank should be centerline of carb. Also check lines for holes. Does the engine have a remote needle? Might try replacing line for needle to carb if it does.

I did try adjusting the low end but ended up very close to where I started.
Have checked the carb O-ring. I can't get to the back plate screws but I am pretty sure I tightened them when I mounted the remote needle valve. All head bolts are tight.
I didn't try the line between the carb and needle valve thanks for the idea. I tried the tank at several different locations including strapped to the top of the fuse.
