Default How loud? Saito 125 without muffler.

This is a Saito 1.25 four-stroke engine with a flex pipe on the exhaust instead of a muffler.

Qualitatively, how loud will this setup be?

A YS 1.20 with a straight pipe header is 102DB at 10 feet.

I personally have not heard a four stroke model engine that is too loud with a straight pipe. [sm=thumbup.gif]

The longer the pipe the quieter it will be.

The corrugated design acts as a muffler and it will not be any louder than with a muffler

It will likely have less power than with a muffler or a true straight pipe/

^^ This - couldn't agree more.

I've run 3 - 4.5 inch straight pipes on an OS .91 Surpass 2 pumper (very quiet), a YS 1.10 (a bit louder) and a YS .63S (a bit louder still) and they were all well within acceptable levels (to our club anyway) both in the pits and in the air. The YS 1.10 and OS .91 obliged by popping flames out the pipes at low throttle on downlines. Love 'em!

I answered the poll before I saw that you have an elbow and flex pipe. The sound will be wonderful.

G'day I briefly ran a Saito 120 in a Cub with a flexible pipe like the one pictured above. It was about 10 inches long and had a pressure fitting on a brass tube fitted into the end. It worked fine and was about as noisy as the standard muffler though it did have slightly more of a sharp edge to the sound. My friend's Saito 180 with its standard muffler is most definitely noisier.

I replaced it with a Turbo Header as it was not a very tidy fitment in the Cub and the Turbo header fits inside the cowl very neatly. The Turbo Header is about as noisy as the original muffler.

Cheers
