running in sc120fs
Hi all, could some one give me an idea on the correct way to run in this engine so it will last more than 12 mths, prop size, fuel, ect ect, this will be my 1st large fs, so any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

RE: running in sc120fs
I have a ASP 120FS which is the same engine except it came from Just Engines.
I used 10 nitro fuel with some castor oil content.
I used a 15 X 6 prop and ran a gallon of fuel through it
I found the cam timing to be advanced 1 tooth. So I aligned the cam timing mark with the push rods with the crankshaft at top dead center.
It will now pull a 16 X 6 prop with pleasure. It is a real sweet heart.

w8ye, thanks for info, was going to run 5% nitro with castor and then progress to 10%.

Run it on 5% nitro and then keep running 5% nitro. All you are doing when switching from 5 to 10% nitro is spending more money for negligible gain. Of course, have a dash of castor oil in the mix, also.
We in America tend to forget just how expensive a little more nitromethane in fuel can be in other countries. I'm not busting anyone's chops here.

Oh, you have to have experience? (smile)
I'm one of those guys that thinks that nitromethane is over rated. I'd like to see it disappear altogether. It's just another toxin in the environment that we can get along without.
Where is that hugging tree? Darn things keeps sneakin' away from me.
If my little OS FS-20 can get along fine without nitromethane and still throttle quickly and reliably, it is hard to imagine a Sanye 1.20 four-stroke that couldn't.
Oh, to answer your question directly - no, I've never ran a sample of your particularly marked engine. But if Magnum and ASP count (and they should) then yes. They both ran just fine on straight 5% nitromethane and no, running 10% didn't make a noticable difference.
