There is a vent located on the cam box. This is where you put after run oil. You also use fuel tube to vent the oil coming out of the crank case to the outside of the plane. How is this different from a Saito?

Kostas1, from what I have seen your English is quite good.;) The vent/nipple is on the cam box which holds the cams which push the rods up to operate the valves on the engine. It is located in front of the cylinder on the crank shaft. On this picture of the engine:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAVCS&P=SM

the cam box is the round object with the two rods coming out. The vent/nipple is on the far side of the cam box and is therefore not visible in the picture.

I have replaced my OS 91 FSa with the new revolver in my 2nd Revolver. Wow verrrry nice! A nice sized egine which is very quiet. A couple of comments: 1. Do no like the oil exit port tubing location which interferes with my engive mount a bit . 2. My idle arm became loose during break-in and cause much grief until resolved. 3. New mffler very quiet but alas it is two piece which may mean a constant revenue stream for Tower (does inclued a rubber gasket) 4. Fits 91 mounting holes and does offer nice power package.

Overall a nice engine at a very competitive cost with supersavers club. No more information availble...don't ask (you know what happens eventually to most Revolvers!)

Use the Saito. I have 2 os95's and my brother has one. We have a very very hard time starting them all. Went to fly my P51 yesterday and never did get the damn piece of junk to hit much less run.

I have two 95V's and one 61V. They both start instantly with an electric starter. Note that the instructions call for the use of an electric starter. Also I have never had a dead stick with them. The 95V's are installed in a Revolver 70 and TF P-47 and the 61V is installed in a T-Clip 70. They are great engines.

I use an electric starter, it got so hot trying to start it I couldn't hold it. I don't understand why they won't start. If you have any tricks let me know.

My guess is that the needles or at least the LS needle is too lean.

Bought the 95V a month ago New 4/12/15. Is on a Horizon Hobby Pulse 60 XL. This engine is flawless. Stable iddle even during break in. Great power and easy to tune. So far I am thrilled with it. Running a 15X8 master aircrew and getting about 10.5k rpm. The other thing that I don't hear anyone talk about is the fuel economy ...outstanding....just bought a sencond engine. I highly recommend it. Strongly recommend that you run the engine with the factory muffler. Don't mess with anything else it run fantastic as is.

e730015 05-24-2015 09:29 AM

Two more things I forgot to mention .....throw away the factory spark plug is worthless get yourself a good 4stroke plug a go. Also don't use plastic spinners it will literally rip then right out ...too much torque for plastic...I am running a truturn 2.5in base plate on mine.

You can throw them my way if you like . If your talking about the F-type plug youve lost the plot ! Cheers the pope

I discovered that the "air funnel" ("velocity stack" in Saito) for the 81a is a perfect fit on the 95V. I bought one for mine. Haven't tried it yet, but should give even better fuel economy. I don't know why Saito doesn't offer a large velocity stack for their large four strokes. Or for that matter, why they all don't just make the carbs with longer intake tubes. Here is the part...

Jim, I received an OS .56 Alpha about two weeks ago, it came with that stack already mounted, it's a nice one and a fine engine..

Dave, you're a lucky guy. I remember you having to sell some of your engines a while back. It seems as though your daughter remembered as well.

Hobbsy 06-01-2015 03:34 PM

She sure did, I think she had outside help choosing the OS .56, it's much appreciated. That mess we were in is almost over. Gift engines are always special and every one is a keeper.

buzzard bait 06-02-2015 03:24 AM

A club member has one on an H9 Cub and is a very sweet runner. Also very powerful, actually much more power than the Cub needs. Nice to hear it includes the stack. If it's good for the 'alphas' I assume it would be good for the 'Vs' too.

What a terrific daughter and dad!

Thanks for kind words Jim. I noticed that the .62V costs considerably less than the .56 Alpha, I wonder what the difference is.
