OS 61FS Value?
 

Hello everyone,

I just picked up several engines from a club member and one of the engines is an OS 61FS. This engine is a little dirty but it starts and runs strong, however the bearings seem a little rough but not grinding rough. I see Boca Bearings sells a bearing kit for $11.88. It is my intent to attempt to sell this engine and others on RCU with full disclosures about the engine. I have checked the book values and cannot find this engine. Guess my question is, any idea of what it may be worth or should I just say Oh Well, live and learn?

The .61FS is part of the generation of engines prior to the surpass series that is now discontinued. The engine you have is easy to run and durable but a little less powerful than the surpass engines of similar size. As old as this engine is now, condition is going to determine its value more than anything else. If it just needs cam and crank bearings, and a good cleaning? Maybe $60-75. I have seen brand new in box examples go for $125-135 or so.

That is what I needed to know, just a rough idea of what it is worth. When I list it there will be a complete disclosure and let the prospective buyers tell me what's it's worth when and if they make an offer.
