RE: OS 70 Surpass Cam Bearing removal
Hello; I found that I had to make a little slide hammer to get the inner cam bearing out. Heat makes the job go faster too. I have one designed for English (lucas) Ignitions, that I modified the slide hammer tool to grip under the edges, inner edges.
I ground two roofing nails so that I could fit the head inside the cam bearing, and pull on the shank of the two nails. Worked great. |

Has anyone tried using a dyna bolt ( I dont know if its called something different in other countries )? There used to bolt stuff to concrete. If u canget the right size to fit into the inner race and then tighten it up I think that would hold just fine . Then its JUST a matter of getting that asssembly out in one . I havent had the need to try it but when I do I will give it a shot. Cheers the pope

Hi The Pope
Great idea using a Dynabolt. Used it to get the main crank bearing out of a YS140. Absolutely painless. As for the cam bearings, the candle wax & drill/punch method is simple & effective. Takes about 5 mins a side. Use it on an ASP61, OS91 and now YS140. Much appreciated. |
