Muffler for Como .51

I just picked up an unrun Como .51 and an older Cap 21. The engine came with the stock muffler, but was also fitted with the one in the picture. Does anybody know anything about the muffler pictured? It has a spring running across its width on the inside and just a small metal bracket blocking air at the outlet. Will this thing do anything to quiet the engine?

Very little to quiet the engine. It's more something to keep some of the exhaust off your engine. I had something like this on a ST S61 and It was much louder than the stock muffler on my other ST 61's.

DuBro made it. As I recall it had extra "fins" you could place inside to increase back pressure and cut noise. I had one. Wish I had my money back. Think I threw it away after trying it, about 25 years ago....
