need help picking a engine
 

im looking for a 4 stroke glow engine that i can run smoke out of. the engine needs to be some where in the size range of 1.00 to 1.25 i think a 1.5 would be to big. my challenge is ive never ran a smoke kit and im haveing a hard time finding a engine that size with a smoke muffler to fit it. any help would be appreciated

It's not the engine, it's the muffler.<div>You need to find a decent smoke muffler (slimline or similar) then match what's available to what ever engine it fits.

As mentioned, some smoke mufflers have this built in but from my experience, there never enough heat! So you'll possibly end up running a coiled copper pipe around the cylinder head, to pre heat the smoke oil, before it's heated further by the coil inside the muffler... before being injected.
That could sound like a lot of heating... but heating is good.</div><div></div><div>Mucho experimenting, I did... then came to the conclusion that wiping all the smoke s#it of the plane afterwards was a good enough reason not to smoke!</div><div>Enjoy.</div>

well the plane i have is a crop duster so i would like smoke to make it look like im spraying crops. do u have any idea where to find smoke mufflers at i looked at tower hobbies and they didnt have any

Couldn't be simpler than that.... unlike the cleaning.

It's not hard to make your own smoke muffler. Our good friend Minn Flyer left this behind.

BTW, Have you thought about a DLE 20? gas engines have higher exhaust temps and smoke better.

A gas Burning Saito will also produce a lot more heat than a glow ignition Saito.

two ways to do this.

Run a Saito 125. take some souper soft copper tubbing of correct size. Run it 2-4 times around the engine cylinder near to top of the engine. get a smoke muffler. or coil more tubing around the muffler headerr and the muffler. Run your smoke fluid thru the tubing before it is injected into the muffler exhaust. remember higher pressure with a tiny hole to atomized the oil.
Now if you dont want to do that the buy this product!

And contact Bruce Fischer down in Iowa City for an engine. brucercengines.com he is the president of the Aerohawks. He has several large 4S engines available, he runs a few YS engines in his planes and is really good with them.
