Just to clarify, a glow driver is needed to start the engine. An on-board glow system shouldn't be necessary on a single cylinder engine IMO to keep it running. If an engine will absolutely not run without on-board glow, then I'd think there to be a design flaw or mechanical problem if all other variables are ruled out.
And for the record, I do not claim to know everything and never have said I did. Your close but it was not a design flaw but in the carburetor they used for this engine. They used the same carburetor as that supplied on the 1.8FS. |

For the record I use a "Sullivan on-board Glow Driver" it can be used for engine start and set to come on automatically based on throttle position.

Eddie it's a fun hobby run it the way you feel comfortable,it's the least anyone can expect to do when it costs time and money.Flying fun is peace of mind mate :) |
I can't turn in the card.............my wife's got it. How about we compromise and I join " On-Board Glow Drivers Anonymous"? But seriously thanks everyone for the input. I have leaned a lot from this site over the years.

Eddy, you don't have to compromise since it's a hobby. At one time the big ongoing topic on RCU was about how many members used onboard glow. I remember it well.
