There's no mention of any engines of any kind.

Get your TT's here ... while you can

Mr Cox 01-14-2015 12:57 AM

None of their stock quantities are listed there though.
I have ordered other stuff from them and after waiting for a month or two, I cancelled the order.

earlwb 01-14-2015 11:37 AM

Well it sure does look like they may have stopped having engines made. But maybe it is just a false alarm.
But if it is true, then one will have to check the online classifieds and Ebay, etc. to look for one.

Sport_Pilot 01-15-2015 06:11 AM

So who besides OS still makes glow engines?

Sorry that should have been Saito and OS, but actually not sure about the former. Do they still make the EVO and Magnum engines?

Sport_Pilot 01-15-2015 06:40 AM

This site mentions TT engines. http://ttamerica.com/

Also I don't see TT airplanes, helicopters or anything other than a few accessories not made by TT on the Tower site. I think maybe TT and Hobbico may have had a falling out.

fizzwater2 01-15-2015 07:20 AM

Thunder Tiger has a new distributor in the states.

Magnum/ASP, YS, Evolution and MECOA all still have glow engines.

Mr Cox 01-15-2015 08:38 AM

Don't know if Mecoa is actually making anything anymore...

Enya are still going strong though!

earlwb 01-15-2015 09:06 AM

Well MECOA has some engines in stock. A few they may make on order. Not sure if they plan to make any new ones though. I think they are using up existing parts.
JETT Engineering still does.
The company who makes Nelson engines is making some too. I forget who they are at the moment though.

ENYA still makes and sells engines.
OS of course.
ASP is making them. They make engines under numerous brand labels.
CS appears to still make some.
Irvine may still be having engines made under their brand, but right now it seems only the .36 is available. Not sure if they plan on making more.
JBA engines might still be making some too. Not sure though.
P.A.W. still seems to be making engines.
RCV was making engines, but there is a rumor that the factory in Asia was damaged in a hurricane or something. so I don't know if they still have more coming eventually.
NV-Engines the new name for Norvel engines still has engines available, but I don't know if they were affected by all the sanctions against Russia lately or not.
Parra Engines is having new engines made, Plus they have some available as well. But the sanctions against Russia might affect them too.

MP-Jet engines are still around, but I am not sure if have made any new production runs.

aspeed 01-15-2015 09:06 AM

Don't forget Novarossi. They are a premium motor, and have reduced the prices lately. Not sure about OPS and Picco.

earlwb 01-15-2015 09:12 AM

OPS is gone, the three fellows who ran it under their initials all split up from each other.
Novarossi and Picco may be only making RC car engines now. They have a good market there, but not so much otherwise. So they have have stopped making airplane engines.

There is a company that makes many brands of RC car engines. But I forget who they are at the moment. But their engines wind up in many RC cars where people want lower cost engines.

I think a hobby outfit called HRP Distributing now has distribution rights to TT. Hrpdealer.com

wcmorrison 01-15-2015 01:56 PM

Yes, there are fewer and fewer manufacturers. I think I was looking at the Thunder Tiger web page and engines were not even mentioned. That is a strong hint.

aspeed 01-15-2015 04:32 PM

http://www.planethobby.com/collections has the plane motors. Sorry to hear about the OPS. I just got a .45 in a boat. Hope it doesn't break.

earlwb 01-15-2015 08:39 PM

Well I stand corrected. Mantua Models now produces some of the OPS engine lineup. They are a italian model manufacturer for hobby stuff. But they do have quite a few parts though.
https://www.mantuamodel.co.uk/
But the P in OPS is Picco who is the fellow behind the engine brand. The original three guys decided to part ways to do other things.

lonestoner 01-16-2015 03:55 AM

Moki engines is the shizzy , check out their web site

They only show one aero engine. Apparently it's made exclusively for Mantua. A 60 size control line speed engine.

aspeed 01-20-2015 03:59 PM

I think B&L Hobby supplies still carries them. Maybe they are leftover stock? You could ask if you are serious. Bill Hughes is a pretty good control line speed guy. He would know more about it anyway. It looks like one of those motors with no supply chain like Novarossi. Needs more advertising.

Yes they only seem to be selling a few engines. Primarily the boat engines. If I remember OPS was drifting away from model airplane engines. I think that they had pretty much quit making airplane engines in favor of boat engines, which is their bread and butter anyway.

carlgrover 02-05-2015 12:18 PM

Fox is still in business. I bought a brand new .45 a couple of years ago and that thing is a honey.

Sport_Pilot 02-05-2015 01:59 PM

Opps, Fox has been out of engines for months and may not make any more.

Indy Park Flyer 02-16-2015 04:45 PM

One of the guys in my club was looking for a Thunder Tiger engine back in December and sent an email to the company. He was told by Thunder Tiger they are no longer manufacturing glow or nitro engines. This is very disappointing since I have only used Thunder Tiger or Evolution in the past. I bought an Evolution .61NXT for the Mustang I'm building since I couldn't find a TT .61 Pro when I was putting together the items needed for the build.
