Super morton m5 engine manufacturer vernal engineering up and running!
9 Attachment(s)
Welcome to the home of Morton Radial Engine enthusiasts everywhere. I would like to dedicate this site to my friend Bruce. Bruce Satra made a hobby of creating castings centered around the entire line of Morton engines. Bruce has since passed away and it has taken some time for me to come up to speed on the casting and manufacturing process. We have began building parts and castings for the M1 and M5. In time we will build parts and castings for the other Morton engines.
WWW.VERNALENGINEERING.COM Our Two-Fold Mission: 1 Keep the memory of Bruce and his love for the Morton engines alive by providing a website dedicated to the hobbyist, enthusiast and supporter of the Morton engines. 2 We would like to open up this website to anyone that would like to contribute to the Morton legacy. This can be done in a number of ways: a If you currently build parts for the Morton or any other small RC engine and would like an outlet to sell your product let us know and we will promote it and sell it on this site. b If you would like to share your skills in building the engines, molds and fixtures to the world wide web, let us know and if approved we will display the information, videos and images on this site. This would be a how to section of the site. c If you have any history on the Morton or other small vintage engines and are willing to share, please let us know and we will place the information on this site. |
Good luck with the engines. I have always thought they were cool little engines. Good that you have a glow version, too.
|
Can you buy the finished parts or engines or are they just the castings that need machining etc. ? Cheers

My business partner just updated the site. |
Hi , I definitely would want one thats all machined but separate parts or one thats assembled would be ok . My machining skills and equipment would be a cold chisel and a rather large hammer . I just looked on the website and see no new added stuff . I would be interested on the small single as I think the radial would be out of my price range . They are so cool and one hanging off the front of a ugly stik would be right up my alley . Cheers

contact my partner through www.vernalengineering.com and lets see what we can do for you!

Morton m5

his email is [email protected] I'll message you phone number |
Morton M-5's
OK thank you. looking forward to any news and updates...Joe

Either link above shows a "page not found" error message, but two search boxes are shown.
Type "Morton M1" in either box, hit Enter and at least one nice drawing of the M1 pops up. An M5 exploded drawing is also there, but not very clear. Bill |
Looks like the vernal engineering site has been down for a while. I've all blue prints for m1 and m5. Pm me
|
Is anyone producing this little engine now? The original seems to be way out of my range to fly but possibly a newer version would be possible.. I have plans for the Burgess Battery Waco Upf7 biplane and my late friend mentioned it was a good plane and engine combo.
|
Yes the parts for m5 to build a complete engine are still available. Contact mike white at
[email protected] (435) 650-2226 3050 S. 1500 W. Vernal, Utah. 84078 I can also send you a copy of the updated plans, the super m5 has had many improvements made to reach 8000+ rpm |
Hello, I contacted people on here for Morton M-5 parts but got nowhere, but did get Mike Whites contact.. Talked to Mike White on the phone but he had no decisions at that time. If I can get them done probably just cost of material. Shouldn't be a problem to complete.
keep in touch, I will message you my contact info. |
Hello, regarding these Morton wrist pins. I just bought two lengths of .125" drill rod. I had to buy two 36 inch length, minimum order issue. So, I can mail you some 6-8 lengths so you can make about a dozen for me. Are you willing to try ? I will mail the Morton drawings with the rods, I just need your address. Please let me know if it is a go... Thanks ... Joe
|
Just cut them to length. Don't bother drilling them to make them lighter.

Any Scratch Builders of the Morton M5 out there ?
Need to confirm some information about the term "Super Morton" I thought that Robert Sigler made drawings which were considered the Super Morton, and that Bruce Satra offered castings for the same. But are they the same ? What differences are there ? Were the changes strictly to make it a "Glow" engine ? I am trying to put together my plans for construction. Rich |
The super Morton was can run on gas or glow.
Robert did the design and Bruce did castings. bruces neighbor Mike ended up with the spare parts and tooling. Mike White 4356502226 3050 S. 1500 W Vernal Uta 84078 |
Does anyone know the status with Mike White regarding Bruce Satra Morton M5 parts. Is he selling off everything or going to produce and sell Morton Parts including the Super Morton.? I have two Mortons to rebuild and a third needs some major parts... Thanks in advance for any update...
