shiny case fox .15x slant

What would you say the proper way to break in the older Fox .15x slant plug engine is? I know they like their castor.

As Ole Duke would say, "keep it clean and not too lean". I have six of these and I flew all of them right out of the box. The oldest one is 50 years old. they all work well.

This page: http://adriansmodelaeroengines.com/c....php?cat_id=10 is by far the best method and explanation of said method to break-in old technology engines. This method is how I am going to set all ferrous engines from now on. In a small ferrous .15, I'd use no less than 25% castor and 75% methanol straight fuel. Plan on 45-60 minutes on the test bench before trying to fly it. No sense on wasting nitro to break an engine in for an hour (is how I feel anyway).

Yes i have several and they run pretty well. I just have not had a new before and still don't. So was just wondering what break in was or wasn't used on these engines when they were new?
And the same with the fox .15's i have come to own used, i would just clean them up and run them, never a problem getting them to run.
Thanks

Perhaps u should state how many hours are on the clock rather than how old the engines are .

the 50 year old ones have about 65 hours on them. a couple with the 2024 T3 connecting rod. Castor oil only fuel. My Fox .15 schneurle engines only lasted 50 hours.

I recall that it was a stinker to get running at first, but after a half hour or so breakin was ready to fly. Still have mine from 1963.

I used to get mine running with an R/C short. After about a liter of fuel I would switch to a standard short.
