which 15 for SSC
any input on which .15 engine for SSC, OS-TT-Magnum, is there any difference

Bronco:
Magnum. Great engines. OS- overpriced, Magnum is its equal and less expensive. TT - no experience, can't comment. Bill. |
RE: which 15 for SSC
Magnum = Great engines, put fuel line over high-end needle valve to prevent migration and leakage. Has ball bearings so it may live longer than non-ball-bearing engines.
OS = Great engines, but the LA version (the only OS .15 SSC legal) is not a ball-bearing engine. Runs good out of the box, took a little longer to break in and reach peak potential than my Magnum .15 TT = My .40 is a great engine on my Quickie 500 Viper. Lots of power, nice idle, easy to set up. Long break-in, but that may just be me since I was going to be racing it. I cannot comment on their .15's though, and some things do not carry throughout all engine sizes even with the same manufacturer. Hope this helps, Will |
RE: which 15 for SSC
One other option to consider is the Megatech .15. Dual ball bearing engine that looks oh so surprisingly like the OS .15 CVA . The CVA uses a dual needle valve whereas the Megatech is using an OS single needle valve which is a million times better than the magum carb/needle so you don't have to worry about leaks in the needle and fuel tubing fixes. All this for $49.99....don't look at the Horizon Hobby site since they charge the suggested retail. All other places I have seen charge $50, thus SSC legal.
