Is this normal?

I spent half a day yesterday breaking in and tweaking my .53 Rossi. On the first tank of fuel the oil coming from the exhaust was grayish in color. It cleared up by the second tank full. I assume this grayish stuff is metal particles from breaking in. Is this normal? Or did I break something?

Is this normal?

Yes! Very normal. Would be unusual if it didn't appear on a new engine.

Enjoy,

Jim

Thank you!

I was having a coronary here. I thought I busted my new, shiny red head.

Is this normal?

Agreed, fairly normal. If it continues, look for a loose muffler, header or something. Usually a loose fitting muffler or bolt will rub against the aluminum and put out a greyish sludge.
