engine/prop balancing

Hi there! I want to do the following completely silly thing, unless someone else did it already before me....1.Take my engine apart . (may be any current 2 or 4 stroke ) 2. fit propeller hub, unbalanced propeller (plus its washer& nut etc. ) to crankshaft . Mark angular relationship of propeller rel. to crank 3. Balance this whole setup. 4. Re-assemble everything , see what happens-unless-see above

RE: engine/prop balancing

The counter balance on the crank opposes all the weight of the crank pin end of the rod and half the weight of the wrist pin end plus half the weight of the wrist pin, piston, and ring.

Generally, you are better off to leave the engine itself alone and zero balance the prop.

Enjoy,

Jim
