Perry Pump
I just bought a used Perry Pump off eBay. It did not come with instructions, but it looked simple enough, or so I thought. It either does not work, or I just dont know how to hook it up. The upper part has two connections and shows two arrows to show direction of fuel, so I hooked it up in from the tank and out to the needle valve. The other end has one connection. Now, I assume the other end connects to the muffler tap. Either this is incorrect or the pump just does not work. Is there some trick to these pumps? Am I just doing it all wrong? Help!!
Thanks, James |
RE: Perry Pump
The other end does not go to the muffler. You have to tap into the crankcase and connect it to a nipple you install in the crankcase.
The pulsations of the pressure-vacuum in the crankcase powers the pump. Enjoy, Jim |

ah, ok, thanks,

RE: Perry Pump
bkdraft, there are different ways to do this and depending on your engine would depend on the thickness of the plate. On my OS 91FX I tapped dead center, but first I made a think layer of JB weld to increase the thickness of the wall so that the nipple did not protrude through and stick out on the inside. I then drilled and tapped through both walls. By me saying this is not to undermine your intelligence but make sure you remove the backplate before any drilling, the instructions state this as well.

RE: Perry Pump
Thanks, it will be on a 91FX. I will pull the back plate before drilling.
Thanks, James |
