Safety first

It has been announced in the news that a 12 year old boy, that came with his father, last Friday, to see R/C planes and helicopters, at Modi'in, Israel and was critically injured by a R/C helicopter, which its pilot did not control properly, has died of his injuries this morning.

The boy did not regain conciousness since being hit and suffered massive brain damage.

Fly with great care - Safety first.
We must make sure such events never happen.

Hi Dar,

My heart and prayers go out to that boy. Such a tragic loss.

In an incident here in the USA a couple of years ago, a fellow lost sight of his 40 sized plane in the sun. Shortly thereafter, it hit him right in the chest near the heart, and killed him.

Also, there seems to be a rash of people putting their fingers into the props when they are used to starting the engine on the ground, and then they suddenly start using a table top.

[&o]our flying has been dampened by this insident this weekend - everybody feels for the family and friends also the pilot as this must be something nobody whishes for. but we need to move on with a masive reminder of how dangerous our hobby/sport can be!!!

Sorry to here this. Were having a minor tiff locally on Pilot boxes whcih you stand in. They are 6 ft square with a post on each corner and raise up about 18 inches and draped around with that orange nylon netting. Many of us want to switch over to chain link or small block wall. A fair amount of regulars wish it to remain the same probably because they hit the thing more than others. The question which consistently comes up is a safety issue. What are we protecting, the plane or the pilot who is about to be nailed .
