royal engine

Does anyone know where I can get some information on a royal 40,or does anyone what kind of power it makes? By the way who sells them?

Royals are no longer being made. They were apparently made by one of three different manufacturers depending on the year. They were distributed by America's Hobby Center in N.Y.C.. The company has since moved over into NJ and there product line now has a brand name of MEGATEK.

The Royals were more like the OS SF series of engine than any other and the Megateks still are.

Enjoy,

Jim

I own several Royal .46 and am very pleased with the engine. The thing I love the best is that I can pick up a new or used one on Ebay for very little. Performance is decent and the engine is very reliable. It is not as powerful as other engines but a good choice for a trainer or something that doesn't require the most powerful engine in its class.

I too have a Royal .46 and it pulls a trainer that I fly during the winter nicely. I agree with Homebrewer. They are not a real powerhouse, but do a pretty not to bad job pulling a trainer. It's easy to start and has run very reliably for me. And you can pick them up for cheap on ebay.

Just my .0002,

IF your 40 is a 3 piece assembly (Back plate, block, front housing) it is based on the FSR series from OS. Good engine! I had one some time ago.
