saito fa100 losted compression, why?
 

i have a pretty new fa100 with about 4-5 gallons ran threw and just recently lost comp. the engine was properly broke in. it justt started losing compression when i installed a cline regulator to preasurize the fuel tank. the prop i'm swinging is a 16*4 apc on 15% wildcat with 18%oil. rpms were about 8,900

now i havent adjusted the valves yet but that shouldnt do anything with comp. right? just performance

the engine is mounted inverted, and with the cline controller it never seemed richen up like before, but the exhaust oil never seemed burnt or have any matallic particles when adjusted recentlly with the cline

the engine seems to have more comp on one stroke than the other

any help please before i start taking the engine apart

If valves clearing are correct, there are leaking between valves and seats. Take contact with Saito dealer if you has still warranty at your engine. Warranty void if you will repair self...

If you have burned 4-5 gallons of fuel in your FA-100 without adjusting the valves there is no question you should do that immediately.

Do remember please, that the Saito engines normally feel like they have no compression if the throttle is shut.

I am with Bill, that is EXACTLY why you lost compression. I'll put money on it. I always adjust my Saito's right from the box and then after break in one more time and from there leave them alone. You will notice right after you adjust the valves an instant return in compression[8D]
