MVVS Engines
Has anyone had any experience with any of these engines? Are they difficult to setup?
Thanks |
MVVS
It has been a few years since someone brought one to our field but the ones I remember were pretty easy to set up. There was a group of .40's that showed up about the same time and all ran well. Only one ate a bearing and was replaced free of charge. Who sells them now?

Good running engines, excellent transition, light weight, above average performance and reasonably priced.

I'm getting ready to set one up a .40 in a Su-Do-Khoi... it has a mini tuned pipe and is reported to be an excellent runner... I'll let you know...

I've got an MVVS .21 on my Combat Gremlin and it is a screamer!! It is as fast or faster than the guys flying similar planes with O.S. FX .25's. So far, it has been very reliable. been in at least three violent mid-airs and I've had to replace the needle valve once as a result. Transition is INSTANT! Like a factory tuned two-stroke dirt bike! I have a NIB MVVS .26 combat wombat that I am going to strap on in the spring. They are made to run on 0% nitro, but you can shim them and run them on up to 15%. My .21 is shimmed and runs great on the nitro, but I ordered some 0% and am going to try that right out of the box with my .26. If it doesn't like that, I will try the shims and my 15%. Hope you have the same luck that I've had!!

I broke in my MVVS .40 yesterday.... It pulled a 10x6 prop at 14,000 rpm and a 10x4 prop at 16,000. I'm going to get a 10x5 apc prop for it when I mount it on my Su-Do-Khoi.
Throttle transition was awesome!! soo smooth and idles better that anything else I own. I hope it has enough poop for a 3 1/2 lb. plane. |

I had an MVVS .40 on a Su-Du-Koi and it was great..hovers very well.... Getting used to the very fast transision took a little bit, but very nice...they don't do there best till they are broken in. It may seem a little fusy at first, don't get discouraged..all it has to do is break in.

How much did your SuDoKhoi weigh? Do you have any pictures? Did you make any modifications?
|
light weight?
are you sure they are light? they are regarded as heavy in our club, but.. nearly every quick plane runs a tuned 40, and no pistons and liners replaced so far, even after months of running if you decide to change the exhause direction. i have a standard 40 in my SpinSation thingy and to start it was a right **** of a pig, but after a bit of running and knocking off the second part of the muff, it now turns a 11 x 3 like it was tuned. love it, now got a PSQ 40 in my Diamond Dust.
