Any help would be helpfull
thank's |
RE: Saito 1.80 help
Saito needs tubing from tank to carb and another from tank to nipple on muffler or engine will not run steady if at all after a while. The nipple on the back of the crank housing needs no tubing to run but will mess up your firewall.

RE: Saito 1.80 help
Jon:
The vent tube on the crank case is important in keeping dust out of the bottom end of the engine. While the net flow is out of the crank case, there is a small amount of reverse flow when the piston is rising. With a minimum of 4" tubing on the vent the reverse flow doesn't have time to draw any dust back to the inside of the engine. And as Matt said, it keeps the engine compartment cleaner when it's pointed down and out. Bill. |
RE: Saito 1.80 help
Good info Mr. Robison but is it a must to run a back pressure line off the muffler

RE: Saito 1.80 help
Bill,
Can you run that vent line on the crankcase to a Cline reg or should the pressure tap for the Cline be taken off the muffler? Joe |
RE: Saito 1.80 help
Joe:
Jon caught me out. I saw "Vent" in the first post, and ignored "Muffler." The crank case port needs at least 4" of hose, going out the bottom. The muffler vent is used for tank pressure. BUT, in some installations the Saitos will run fine without muffler pressure. In the case of the Cline (or Iron Bay) regulator the muffler port is used, through a check valve, to pressurize the tank. While inertia of the air column allows the crank case port to be used for operating a Perry VP-30 pump, I doubt you'd get a high enough peak pressure there for the Cline or Iron Bay, since you have to use a tee and maintain the crank case vent to atmosphere.
