Need help with engine!!!
 

I have a Hobbico Avistar. I am the 3rd owner. It has a o.s 40 Fox engine in it. I can't get it to run!!! It isn't sucking the fuel threw the glow wires. Even after I cleaned the tubes out. I really want to fly my plane but I just can't get it to run. I NEED SOME HELP!!!

The engine isn't sucking the fuel threw the glow plugs. I think that is why it isn't running. I would really like to get my plane running so if anyone knows how to fix this let me know.

The list of possible scenarios for this is pretty long. Do you have a club in your area? Maybe get some hands on help from someone with experience.

if the glow plug sucks fuel...you've got bigger problems;)


have you tried putting your finger on the muffler and then spinning the prop to try and draw fuel into the carb?

Do you mean "through the fuel line"? The glow plug is what fires the fuel mixture and is screwed into the top of the head. The fuel doesn't flow through it.

Yes the fuel lines, the ones that go to the engine and the muffler. I thought that the engine was supposed to suck the fuel threw there as you turn it a couple of times.

I am sorry I am not familuar with glow engines. I am mostly into electrics.:(

I think it would be best for you to get some hands on assistance from someone who knows about glow engines. Not that I don't want to help, but you will benefit much more from that than any suggestions I can offer. On a used engine there are just too many possible causes for the fuel not getting to the carb based on your info.

Not to mention learning how to tune the engine to prevent ruining it on one lean run, if you DO happen to get it running.

Getting personal help from some guys at a local club will save a lot of trouble in the long run.
