tower muffler question?
See where flyers are changing the stock muffler over to the tower muffler to get more power from the os 46fx engine. Well I have to try it out. Now my question is this. Are you removing the baffles from the tower muffler or running it stock?

I'm pretty sure the tower mufflers do not have a baffle in them.

tower muffler question?
The Tower 46 muffler has no baffle. It is hollow.
It is a direct bolt-on to the 46FX and it will even look like the motor came with this muffler. The undulations in the exhaust stack are the same. You will need to re-adjust your HS needle valve. You will have to screw it out some. The muffler will eventually come apart on you if you run the motor hard. The usual fix is to run a piece of 2-56 rod all the way through it with double (locktited) nuts on both ends. Expansion is the problem here. Tower is bad about not having them or various parts in stock. Enjoy --- Jim |

If you can afford it, go to www.pspec.com and get an Ultrathrust muffler...they cost around $56, but are definatly worth it.

Thanks guys for the info. Tower has it on back-order. Cheap, considering there is no shipping charge.

tower muffler question?
Will these Tower mufflers fit the 46LA as well?
And if so, will it make a noticeable difference? Tim |
LA
The bolt spacing is different so they will not fit. But if it did, the LA engine is rather unresponsive to any kind of "exhaust tuning". It may sound a little different but you are not going to get 400 rpm out of it.
