OS .91 VR-DF
I am rebuilding my OS.91 ducted fan engine, and have noticed that there is a lubrication hole in the conntecting rod which attaches to the crank. Does this hole face the front or rear of the engine?
Thanks Voodoo |

Usually the best way to tell which way the connecting rod goes is to look for a chamfer on the inside of the bronze bushing. The chamfer should face the counter weight.

RE: OS .91 VR-DF
Never having seen one of these engines I may not be getting it right as to what you mean but here goes anyway :)
I'm guessing there's a single small hole near the bottom of the rod leading into the bush but this hole is offset to one side. If so, these are fitted so that the hole is facing towards the direction the crank rotates to act like a scoop and pick up the oil mist. But the important part about the rod is that one end of the bush has a chamfer inside while the other end of the bush is flat. The chamfer must go onto the crankpin so it's against the crankweb to give a clearance for the small radius machined on the crankpin/web. |
