RCV Engines

Just bought an RCV 91 CD.
I ran it on the test stand for about an hour after breakin and was pleased with the smoothness and general operation.
Installed it in a Sig 4*60 in place of an FS91 and took it out today for some flights.
This engine is very impressive ! Smooth, powerful, and responsive.
200 rpm short of peak gave me 9200 on a MAS 14X6 and the idle is rock solid at 2000 ~ 2100.
I let it idle for 5 minutes with no loading or RPM change and it responded smoothly and quickly to a full throttle blast.
Has considerably less vibration than my FS91, is about 20% better on fuel economy, and is around 50 bucks cheaper.

The only minor downside I can find with this engine is the weight, (25oz) although, it balanced the 4* perfectly.
Since I am a techno buff, it has a huge grin factor and it's own unique sound.
I am not a 3Der, so I can't attest to any performance other than a few loops and rolls which the engine handled perfectly.
It will pull enough vertical to do a short tail slide.

If the longevity of the engine is up to par, this may well turn out to be my favorite !

I am running it on the same fuel as my other 4 stroke engines which is 15% Cool Power with 2oz added castor.
This is a little less castor than RCV recommends, but I am not going to carry two jugs of fuel to the field.
Time will tell !!!

RE: RCV Engines

Glad to hear your RCV story.

I'm over in Greenville and wanted to know where your getting your fuel and supplies. I'm flying up at the RAMM field on 331 south of Montgomery.

Pete
