.75 2-stroke for 3D
 

Hey all, I've searched ad nauseam on the Tower, GMS and SuperTiger 75 engines looking for something to pep up 40 size full fuse 3D planes in the 5-poundish range. I'm looking to turn an APC 13x4 (I just like APC, anything better in this size?) with good throttle response so an engine with good torque is probably what I'm looking for. I have considered 90s but I think that's too much, it might even weigh less and all that but there can be too much power where manuevers other than rocketship straight up are limited to small throttle ranges and thats no fun to juggle.

Lighter is probably better but I'll leave off cowl, wheel pants, spinner, prop weights currently used to balance 46 etc... so should be no problem. So ideas? So far I like the Tower 75 becuase its on sale for 90 bucks, is ABC for quick breakin, has a good warranty, but I saw someone mention the Supertigre because of better torque so I'd like opinions of the 3d flyers among you. Thanks.

I do have a Saito 91 for one of the planes but I really want to try a two stroke to see the difference myself.

The Super Tigre .90 only weighs tenths of an ounce more than the .75. I would use the Tower motor myself even though I have 3 STs if for nothing more than the price and boy are they powerful motors.

Either of the engines you noted would provide pleanty of power for your needs. They are just physically a bit larger than you really might want, but it appears you have a good plan to account for the extra weight.

The Jett SJ-60L "Hover" version and the BSE-76L are both "40" size engines designed specifically for 3D flight and aerobatics.

Yes, they are a bit more than the Tower 75, but these are the same size and weight (appx) as an OS46.

The 76L turns a 14x4 well over 10K rpm. The 60L-H will turn a 12x4 up over 14K rpm.

I have got one.Visually very good.Not run it yet.

Turk1 - ohh ya, I knew there was a company importing some engines that I had forgotten the name, thanks ya, I'll check it out and maybe you can give some kind of report when you get a chance to run it! Thanks for the reference.

While I'd love to try a Jett, funds don't support that at the moment - so options like this are great.
