OS .10 LA
I already had an OS .10 LA engine lying around, so i needed a plane for it. So i got the Jamara Trainer .15 for it. The total weight of the plane including all accesories is about 700 grams. Would the .10 LA be up to this? I have no idea what kind of power i can expect from this cute little engine. So can't decide if i'm going to use it or get a bigger .15 engine (MVVS)
Anyone got experience with it? |
RE: OS .10 LA
I have a 10FP. Output is probably pretty similar. It will power a LazyBee nicely.

RE: OS .10 LA
Hi!
We used these engines in a pylon race called "Sting pylon" over here in Sweden 15-18 years ago and most people used the OS FP .10 engine (same as todays LA series). Fuel used were 5% nitro an 20% castor oil and best props were 7x5 APC. Tanks used were mostly Sullivan 2 oz. and glowplug OS 8. 700 g is a little heavy, our planes weighted around 550-600g ready to run and then we had no limit in straight up climbing performance. We hand launched these airplanes so no landing gear and wheels were used. Regards! Jan K Sweden |
RE: OS .10 LA
The one LA 10 I have seen fly was flown control line. It ran well but was no competitor for a TD 09.

RE: OS .10 LA
should fly very nicely!
the plane i learned on had a similar 20cm (8" ) chord, 15cm more span and weighed over 1200g (45oz)...all this flew very well, even too fast, with a muffled enya .11cx which isn't a whole lot more powerful than the os .10....landings (dead stick of course) were'nt too much fun at that weight though.. the os .10fsr i had also did a decent job flying a VERY overweight (48oz+++) and draggy sig scamp 7x4 MAS or APC will do a good job dave |
RE: OS .10 LA
They call for breaking it in with a 7x4 and then a 7x4 or 7x5, on that plane a Graupner 8x4 would be perfect and very little more load than the 7x5.

RE: OS .10 LA
The OS LA .10 is no longer sold in the USA.
The LA 10, 15, and 25 are all in their own case so they are different physical sizes. Leave yourself a little room in case you desire more power in the future. Enjoy, Jim |
RE: OS .10 LA
I'm going to finish the model and put it on the scale again. If it stays around 700grams i'm going to use the .10 LA. If it becomes a lot more i'm going to concider another engine. The box says about 1200grams total but that's with the .15 engine and bigger servo's.

RE: OS .10 LA
even at 900g it should fly very nice with the .10
the MVVS .15 is overkill and not really happy swinging the bigger props a plane like this would need. an OS .15 would do nicely if you do find you want more power and would probably even swing the bigger props at the same rpm as an unmodified MVVS dave |

RE: OS .10 LA
Sorry Bax,
It didn't come up on the Tower Site in my search. The problem is the sites' most likely search results. The LA 10 will not come up on there when you do a search for LA engines. If you search for LA 10 it's there and in the LA search it comes up on down below there a ways. Jim |
