Chokes
I have a new, never started, OS Max .70 Surpass that I am trying to mount in an airplane. The choke assembly is holding the engine far enough away from the firewall that the cowl doesn't fit. The question is, for all you four strokers, how often do you use the choke? Is it necessary to have it operational or can it be removed with no adverse effects? Thanks, folks.

RE: Chokes
You can remove the choke. It is easier to prime the engine by holding your
finger over the muffler tip, and pulling the prop through a few times. This sends all the exhaust pressure to the tank, and the surge of fuel primes the engine. ;) Dave. :D |

JollyPopper,
Dave's method works great! [8D] Just make sure your throttle is opened completely for best results. ;) |
RE: Chokes
I use Dave's method also on the engines with muffler pressure lines hooked to the tanks.
If you don't have a pressure line, I just use an electric starter. They seem to start right away. Enjoy, Jim |
RE: Chokes
Thanks, guys. I was hoping the choke was just a frill that wasn't really necessary. Removing it will make my life so much easier.
